  • Less expensive than most and does the same thing
Size: 25 FT
There are numerous brands of garden hose that are all pretty much the same so far as I can tell, so I choose among them based mainly on price. Occasionally you get one where the spiraling chords are not balanced in both spiral directions, and when you encounter this, the hose will twist one way when the pressure in it is high, and will twist back the other way when the pressure is released. Thus far, I have not encountered this kind of thing with this hose. There are a bunch of hoses that tout swivel grips. There is one brand that comes in a bright green color, almost fluorescent, that claims to have swivel grips, and sort of does, except that the grips are not bonded to the fittings and have to be moved away from the end of the hose in order to access the fitting that has to be held and/or turned when attaching or removing the hose. There is another curious aspect of this swivel grip business. It is only needed at one end, yet the hoses that have swivel grips generally have them at both ends. Except for the aforementioned hose brand that comes in fluorescent green, the swivel grips are attached properly to the fittings, either bonded or else using a hexagonal shape for both the fitting and the grip. But the swivel grip is only needed at the end of the hose that attaches to the spigot. There is no need for a swivel grip at the other end, where it is not desirable because the fitting that is consequently required at that end, to accommodate the swivel grip, is prone to leaking and likely will eventually leak, given enough time. If I could find a hose that has the swivel grip at only the end where it is actually needed, that would become my favorite hose. At the end of the hose that attaches to the spigot, hoses have always required a swiveling fitting. This is needed so that you do not have to spin the entire hose in order to attach it to the spigot. This swivel fitting is not prone to leakage because all that the threaded piece that swivels loosely does is to pull the two parts tightly together with a gasket between them. It is like two pieces of pipe the exact same diameter being pushed together end-to-end by a mechanical clamp that swivels freely on one side and that threads onto the other side. There is no reason for this to leak so long as the gasket hasn't gone missing. The other end of the hose is different. That other end is similar to the spigot, with exposed exterior threads. It is nice to have a grip at this end of the hose, bonded to that fitting that resembles a spigot. But there is no compelling reason for the grip at this end of the hose to swivel, and adding a swivel to the fitting at this end of the hose makes it prone to leakage, because it is similar to the fitting at the other end. For any hose with a swiveling fitting at the end that resembles the spigot, this swivel is invariably the primary point of failure for these hoses. Why can't the manufacturers who make this stuff figure this out? Isn't there someone who can explain this to them? ... show more

  • Does what it is supposed to do
Size: 5 FT
Seems made well enough for the price, easy to handle, isn't leaking. It has endured about a month, can't tell you beyond that.

  • Perfect length
Size: 10 FT
I needed a short hose for adding water to a fountain and this worked out perfectly. This hose is much sturdier than other hoses than I have bought in the past.

  • Works well
Size: 50 FT
The fittings are really great, no leaks with any of the connections. The hose is heavy, heavy duty, but I purchased it because I am tired of replacing the expandable hoses year after year at $25-30.00 bucks. It's time to resort to the old fashion garden hose that last forever.
