I've had this mandoline slicer for a couple years now, truth be told I tucked it away and had forgotten about it until a month ago. What was I thinking? Since its rediscovery I have used it to make salads, au gratin potatoes, grated cheese, sliced apples for a tarte tatin, thin sliced onions for burgers, the list goes on. What a time saver, not to mention that your dishes will cook more evenly and will look lovely too. The slicer is so easy to use, but there are a couple of things I have found that make it work easier and more safely... 1. Use the skid mat and the glove. 2. Cut a round veggie in half so you have a flat surface to sink the teeth of the handle into. 3. Hold on to the slicing plate so it does not slide around. 4. Empty the container often. 5. Wash it immediately and cleanup is a breeze. NEVER put the blades in soapy water where you can't see them, or anything sharp for that matter. As Nick Stellino says, "Keep your fingers, enjoy your meal." I hand wash mine just because plastic will get brittle over time using the dishwasher. It now sits right in the front of my cupboard. I was a bit worried when I ordered this because it seemed like it was so inexpensive that something must be wrong with it. However, it is amazing! The blades are very sharp, so it's easy to slices things really quickly. The included saftey glove works very well. I got this to slice up my sweet potatoes to easily make chips. It works well! I have trouble with the hand protector which doesn’t slide so easily, but overall a great product to get your veggies in.

I've never owned a mandoline before and wasn't sure how often I'd use it so I bought this one based on the price. So far I've used it to make kimchi, gyoza, vegetable tian, mac and cheese, and waffle fries. I really love it. The silicone mat that it comes with does a great job of holding the mandoline in place. I also love the protective glove, though I'm not sure how to wash it? (I've been putting it in the dishwasher with all the other parts and that seems to do the trick.) The glass container feels heavy duty and high quality, on par with pyrex. Blades are sharp. Easy to clean. It's all very good so far! The only cons are that it can get a little messy if you are aggressively slicing. I sometimes shoot bits of veg across my kitchen, but the time it takes to slice is drastically reduced, so picking up a few veg bits off the floor is worth it! Also the plastic piece that holds the blade does not "snap" on to the glass. It can slip or wobble if you're aggressive. My solution to this is to hold the "handle" bit with my non-slicing hand. This does great for slicing things like onions, but the cheese grater did not work well at all. I get way better results from my hand held grater.
