My little guy, Milo, is a 20 lb. bundle of high energy Rat Terrier. He is always hyper alert and seldomly seems relaxed. I ordered these to see if they might help him relax. Amazon delivered these in one day which is always great. The item was nicely boxed with all the information to include the dietary information. When the doorbell rang for the first time today and Milo went crazy like usual I thought what a great time to try one of these chews. He gobbles it right up even though he can be a little picky with his treats. About 20 minutes later he was laying down on the couch all sprawled out and relaxed. He was indeed calmed down a little bit. These chews are made in Ireland so that was nice to see versus made in China. I do not trust pet products made in China from their past negative record. I'm glad I found these on Amazon and I think Milo will be a little more relaxed from now on! ... show more

I have an XL American Bully. He is 3yrs old and about 100lbs. He is a big baby. When there are fireworks or loud noises, he cries and chews on his tail. I got the hemp chews to try to calm him. Taking 1-2 chews doesn't seem to do much for him. We up the dosage to 3-4 chews, it seems to help, but not for that long. We might have to give him more, but I want to do some research before I do that. These chews smell good. The price is fair. He likes them, I think he thinks they are his regular treats. My hyper shepherd mix pup can be quite a pain in the behind in the evenings. He demand barks, and when he doesn't get the desired attention, he nips. Training has helped a lot, but sometimes we just have "those" days. I have tried these chews for him a couple of times now when we have those particularly bad nights and they definitely help to calm him down. I don't think it's something I would use for him every day, I would imagine--based on other reviews I have read--that after a few days, they would not be as effective. The first few times we used these chews they worked well. Using them the 3rd and 4th times they seemed less effective. The dog has anxiety when he's left alone and becomes destructive. They calm him less after the 3 time. We still are using them but they are less effective. Probably depends on the breed of dog as to how effective they will be. He's a med size dog about 40 lbs. My 1 yr old rescue dog is intimidated by a lot of things but I wanted these to see if I could get him to calm down his barking and hiding some when people (even ones he sees often) come over. They worked pretty well for getting him to just go hide and lay down. A huge con to me though is they recommend dosing the dog daily so they get used to the effects and you have better reactions to them. 1. I don't want to dose him for being him everyday 2. You would literally have to use up a whole jar, and then some, just to get the dog used to then (unless you have a small dog). Pro: my dog won't take treats so I have to smooth these in my hand, make them into dust/crumbs, then put them in his mouth- they break apart very very easily making it way easier to dose him. ... show more

I got a chuckle as I was being asked to rate the flavor and pain relief of dog treats. I am not tasting dog treats or taking them for pain relief and the dogs are not saying.
