No filter tools needed usually because of the nice grip. Watch all the comparisons on YTube Videos and you'll find the materials used in this version filter is as good or better than just about anything out there and the price is right in the middle. Metal end caps rather than glued cardboard as most of the rest, better filter material so it will last longer and keep filtering if your a bit late on changes. The only negative if it is a negative is these will raise the oil pressure slightly compared to others because the filter media is tighter. I use them just like full synthetic oil so if I drive a bit extra or I'm a little late on my changes these will last longer than the cheaper models of this brand and most other brands as well. ... show more

You can find info all over the interwebs about this filter vs that filter. Fram Ultra filters are shown to be some of the best, especially considering cost and availability. I generally buy mine on Subscribe and Save to make them a better value, and also so I don't have to think about it. I happen to have 4 rather experienced Honda products (2002 Honda CRV w/ 260k miles, 2005 Honda Civic w/ 195k miles, 2013 Acura ILX w/ 150k miles, and 2016 Honda Pilot w/ 115k miles), that all use the SAME filter, making it super simple for me. I just keep a pile of these filters laying around, plus the appropriate synthetic oil... and I'm always good to go. I chance oil between 5k and 9k miles depending on my laziness and what type of driving the particular car saw. With the list of cars above, I've really only had to do routine maintenance, or other fixes that have nothing to do with engines, oil, and oil changes. Do yourself a favor... spend a few bucks on a slightly better filter than the base model (in other words, get this Fram Ultra), change your oil regularly, keep your tires inflated properly, check the other fluids regularly, and get the most out of the money you spend on that car. ... show more
