  • Did not receive the bowl
Okay for older kids. 7-8 yo. My 28 month old couldn’t do any thing with the clay. It was to hard. No having the bowl was very disappointing because her hand is small so we had to figure out a bowl that would work and go into the oven.

  • Not for younger kids
This clay was really, really stiff and way too hard for an 8-year old to do the project. No way an 8-year old could cut out a decent looking hand with the little plastic knife that is included. Not recommended for younger children.

  • Great for little hands!
What a fun project… for mom or dad! To start off, the supplies given were great and they gave ya everything you’ll need. Tons of clay, the bowl, plastic knife, and roller. The directions were awesome and walk you through really well and give different styles of designs to do or you could do your own. I did this with my 2.5 and 7 year old and neither of them were able to soft the clay, it was realllllly hard clay! I even struggled and my hands huuuurt when we were done. The only things my kids could do was to pick the colors and shape their hands. So that kinda sucked, it wasn’t to interactive. The bowl is also small, my 7 year olds hand did not fit and the finger tips broke off so I’d do this with the younger kids or try and find a bigger bowl that’s oven safe. You could definitely do other crafts with the clay they provide. I think next time we will something else maybe for grandmas for Mother’s Day. Overall, it was fun and did work but whom ever is the adult helping will be doing most the work unless you have really strong kids. Or maybe I got an off batch? Who knows! 😂 ... show more

  • Good but kinda hard to mold
My kids enjoyed it and at the end of the day that’s what matters the most to me. They had fun. I felt like when it dried it was a little more flexible than I was expecting. I couldn’t tell if maybe it just needed to dry more but the second bowl came out the same way. I’m still using one and one broke. It was also pretty hard so took a bit of effort to roll out so be prepared to help out if you’re doing this with younger kids or kids am working on their hand strength and motor skills. ... show more

  • Lots of fun.
My grandson has autism and we are always looking for things he might enjoy doing that will exercise not only his creativity, but his fine motor skills. This craft fills the bill for both. He enjoyed making gifts for Mother's Day and a birthday for Mom and Grandma, and it held his attention for a long time - which is almost never the case with art projects. I think it opened a new avenue of interest for him, as he has gone on to other painting and clay projects recently. Well worth the price! ... show more

  • Cute, Fun Family Activity!
This is a nice, complete kit for creating hand-shaped bowls that kids can do with support from an adult. This kit includes all of the necessary tools and lots of clay to make several bowls! My daughter (5) and I worked to create three bowls shaped like her little hand. We followed the included instructions but also did our own thing. I found that the clay is very hard to manipulate and the clay sticks to the roller right when you don't want it to. I solved these problems by using parchment paper and frequently warming up the clay with my hands. This is not a craft that a kid can do on his or her own because of the strength required to mold and flatten the clay, but also because the bowls must bake in the oven to set. Our bowls are still pliable after baking as directed, and I'm not sure if longer heating would make them hard and solid. Overall, I'm happy with this craft, but it definitely took longer to complete and required a lot more effort than expected. The bowls are adorable, though! My daughter is so proud of what we made, and that's really what matters. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Nice project but a lot of adult help
This is a good project to do with kids that are patient, because it requires a fair amount of adult help to roll out the clay. I wish it was a little easier to use so we could all work on the projects at the same time, but I really liked the idea and we will do something like it again every few years is my guess. It's so fun to have something that shows their growth. ... show more
