I have been buying these traps for years and I will continue to buy them. These traps are very effective at catching flies. I have two horses and four chickens. I hang a trap next to each of their enclosures. The traps are easy to use and step up. The ties provided are very durable and you can hang the bag with them. The ties do hold yo as well. I have never had a trap fall. The smell does get strong after a while. I double bag the traps and dispose of them the night before the trash goes out. I have had them make a trash can smell really bad before. Even though there is a strong smell, these traps are worth it and I will continue buying them. With all the animals we have, flies are always an issue. This thing works! Easy to set up. Smells horrible, so I wouldn't suggest putting it close to the house. Says it takes a couple of days to work, but we immediately had flies dropping to their death. I will be ordering again. Has helped draw the flies away from the house. ... show more

Horrible smell, but that's what you'd expect in a fly attractant, right? These attracted SO MANY flies! Word to the wise, though; don't put these anywhere near where you DON'T want flies. They attract flies, dummy. I don't know if they made my fly problem any better because, even though it trapped hundreds of flies, they attracted those flies in order to trap them.     • Effective but hold your breath
I had a huge problem with flies on my property. I bought these at the beginning of the summer so I could actually be outside. They’re highly effective and made it so I could go outside without being swarmed but they smell horrendous. They’re fine for a few days then it smells like something died and while it collects a ton of flies, the smell is too strong to be coming from just them. Hanging them up is really easy but you need to be extremely careful taking them down. They don’t close so it’s easy for the liquid to spill and you’ll never get the smell out. They leaked in my trash can so now that needs to be replaced. I’ll continue using these because I stocked up before realizing the pros don’t outweigh the cons but I’ll search for another brand after that. ... show more

Bought these as a last ditch to rid my apartment of flies that kept finding ways in. Set it up on my apartment patio which i rarely go out on - and haven't had any issues since. Beware though, these obviously smell- so be prepared for that. But my peace of mind and sanctity of my apartment has been restored. ... show more

    • what a gross mess
I put these up about a month ago and have had two fall out of the trees already. The twist tie isn't put on there secure enough to hold the bag if there's any kind of wind. The plastic the bag is made up is flimsy, so not only does it fall out of the tree, but it bursts open and STINKS to high heaven. The stench soaks into the ground and lingers. I've bought other brands that have held up all summer, though the winter and are still doing the job a year later, I'll be going back to buying those and put this brand on my do not buy list. They DO catch flies, which is why I gave them 2 stars, but I'd prefer to not have to deal with a dead rotting fly pile the minute my tree branch shakes. ***edited to add, I was reimbursed by the company for the bags. So I added another star for their ethics. Some advice, these would probably be fine if you don't use the wire ties they provide. The other two I tied up with binder twine and they're still hanging in there. ... show more
