  • Great diagnostic tool at a twentieth of the price
The Mevo provides you key information to help you better hit a golf ball. It measures club head speed, ball speed, ball rotation speed, and launch angle. It calculates smash factor, carry distance, and total distance. I’ve taken the Mevo onto the golf course and hit shots during a practice round to measure its accuracy, and have found it to be within a few yards of the estimated distance. This tells me that the ball rotation and club head speed must be pretty close. The devise is small. It fits into my pocket, albeit with a bulge. It’s very transportable. It’s easy to set up. It syncs with my iPhone 7 quickly. I’ve tried my iPad as well, but unfortunately although it syncs, it didn’t register any swings, but that could have been operator error (it was late at night, and there may have been intoxicants involved). Overall, I’m very pleased with the gadget. Now maybe I’ll be able to vanquish my friends. They’ll never know what hit them! ... show more

  • Mevo-Great Product for Golf Enthusiasts
The Mevo is a great device. You simply need to understand that the technology is not comparable to $20,000 units you’d find in professional training facilities. This device is very affordable and in my opinion provides an accuracy level suitable for a golfer to monitor progress and provide realistic results. Patience and accuracy to follow the directions provided will yield results of accuracy that you can count on. I recently used my Mevo in a lesson where Trackman system was being used. The deviation we identified was in the spin calculation. Had we used the foil stickers on the ball we likely would have had comparable results. Bottom line- The Mevo is a great tool and provides enough detail for an enthusiast to improve on striking the ball, and having data to reflect back on and see modifications and improvements. I have purchased most units available here on Amazon and eventually returned them all but the Mevo. The only reason I didn’t award 5 Stars is because there are functions that I would consider as an improvement or update that eventually Mevo will hopefully offer. I recommend that you buy Mevo and test it yourself. ... show more

  • I'd give it 4.5 stars. Just be reasonable about expectations
If you buy this expecting it to do as well and be as accurate as a trackman, you will be disappointed. It's a $500 unit meant to be something affordable for us golf junkies. For me, it was exactly what I thought it would be and more. I had read a lot about the mevo since it's release. I've been tempted to get it since it became available but waited. I was super eager to take it out to the range to test it out. Overall, I was very impressed with the results. I believe that it's really important to know carry distance and launch angles. Up until now I had only received some of this data from the launch monitors at the golf shop. But this little device gives these numbers and so much more. I have it setup to give these 2 figures plus smash, ball speed, spin and club head speed. I was very surprised when it was picking up spin without the use of the silver dots. It caught a spin number on over 90% of the balls hit at the range session. And I think those numbers were pretty accurate. I have to say that it's not perfect. There were some shots that might have gone a little left or right that might have given slightly skewed numbers. But overall, it was really good. Clubs were traveling the numbers I felt I was hitting. It even became super fun to try and feel a distance and then try and hit that distance. Competing with my son brought those good old competitive juices right to the brink. Dang kid kept beating me. Then we tried the hit a ball and guess the number. Again, pretty accurate. The app stores each range session for review later. It automatically notes the date and time you started your session and the number of swings captured during the session. There is a chart that it could generate showing each balls flight and decent path. That was neat to see. You do have to tell the Mevo what club you are hitting. It will do the rest to sort out the data based on the club you are hitting. It was pretty fun exploring all the details on there. Felt like I could become a YouTuber and post some of the results. The next time I'm out, I might sort out the session but short, long irons, woods and then drivers. That way, I can focus more on the different aspects of the game and see the charts a little more clearly. Angle of decent and the affects of spin will show better on the chart doing it this way. There's still a lot more to this app that I haven't explored. I've read it's supposed to talk to you though I haven't explored that as of yet. Don't expect the world from this little thing. It won't deliver but if you want something to help improve your game, a solid training aid, this little device will do just fine. I'm eager to setup my hitting net and get some spin numbers off my wedges with my own ball. ... show more

  • Great tool to improve your game
First, it was easy to set up with the app on my iPad. Just install the app, connect it with the wizard to the unit's bluetooth and that's it. I thought the iPad's bigger screen was better than the phone to review the videos. The video capture is a great tool to check your swing. I immediately saw a flaw in my swing and I'm working on correcting it. Just like the feedback from a coach. The ball flight, if indoors, must be at least 7 feet and the unit must be 8 feet behind the tee and lined up with the tee. I found that you don't need the tee if not using the driver. Indoors is mainly a tool for your swing and ball speed and distance since you can't tell if you sliced or hooked. I have also used it outdoors at a range and the distance seems to be accurate. You don't need to use the sticker unless you want to know the ball spin. With the ball velocity and launch angle it calculates the distance. Pure physics. ... show more
