Got a new one from amazon warranty. They work ok. Magnet holds well I have 2 for my Laguna 1836 lathe. Probably should have bought the Laguna light but cheaped out.

I have it on a small drill press and the magnetic base does grip, wish it was a little more secure feeling as the lamp looks only good for one drop. The lamp head is very large for the world of leds and had to set up to come in from the side to not interfere with my work. It is super bright, in a nice concentrated clear light. My only worry is accidentally knocking the base off when swinging wood... it would be perfect on a more fixed machine like a lathe or milling machine. You can really see what you are doing! It flexes well. I put locktite on the threads os the base/lamp head as the head is so heavy, it was unscrewing by gravity. Definitely expensive but is built like an industrial tool. ... show more

I got tired of messing with batteries and even some of the LED were not as bright. If you have power close to your BBQ this is a great option. I just use a clamp to clamp it in place and remove it when i don't need it.

Magnet is weak if light is more than 50 % extended mounted on a surface perpendicular to level will come of at times. The problem is the magnet is weaker on one side compared to the other. This allows it to spin out of placement or fall off. Mounted on a level surface seems OK if you spin it so the strong side is at the rear. The V shaped column or cylinder mount is the weakest point one side weaker and it is limited in the amount you can have it extended ... show more
