Review redo November 1, 2017: It depends on the carpet. I slid around terribly on the first carpet I tried it on. Moved and now it stays put really good. Changed from 2 to 4 stars, I am now happy with it on my present carpet. October 2017: As some other reviewers have stated, this mat doesn't stay put, even on medium pile carpet, despite the nubs on the bottom. It moves about 2-3 inches over 3-4 hours of use on medium pile carpet. I have to re-adjust the location every day, and it moves back so the front chair caster may roll off the protector after just a few hours of use (with a few times getting up off the chair). Now I know why people will pay much more for polycarbonate. Also, the castors make (temporary) divots in the surface after sitting just a few minutes, making small chair location re-adjustments very difficult if not impossible; but for medium to deep pile carpet this may be unavoidable with any commercial chair mat. One other thing: I commend the manufacturer for shipping it flat. However, when it arrived one end was completely open and the entire may could've slid out in transit, and I could've received an empty flat of cardboard. The narrow end was sticking out of the cardboard when it arrived. The shipping department should've taped the end better. The plastic feels very slippery to the touch and the plastic itself may just be slippery on the carpet. I recommend a different material. My office mat has a very "bumpy" surface and don't feel nearly as slippery to the touch, and it does not move around (at all), but it is on low pile too. ... show more

Initially this mat was pretty good. It held in place and the divets under my chair's wheels weren't too bad. But after bout a year worth of use the mat had multiple cracked horizontally running parallel. The mat broke up with chunks coming loose from the center. This mat isn't so heavy duty. The plastic is turning up around the cracks and making the chair movement impossible. 400 pound capacity? Don't make me laugh. definitely not what I ordered, deep dimples appear immediately. With chair I weigh 2oolbs + or - couple lbs, supposed to have 400 lb capacity, if you're not sure if this will work for you be careful, restocking fee is outrageous and be sure to keep the cardboard, very disappointed..

So far so good. Had it about a month. Some indenting from chair but it seems super sturdy. Only complaint is it slides a bit on my medium pile carpet.- Revising this because the sliding has gotten really annoying. I have to move it back every single day. I even had the legs of my desk on top of it and it still slides.- Another revision- I have had this about a year now. Indents are so bad that my chair doesn't move. It still slides every single day. And I also wanted to note that I am well under 100 lbs of the weight capacity. So I wouldn't expect this to indent so badly. ... show more

The mat is much thicker than expected for the price. I see no need to spend more for durability. If you want transparency, perhaps others would be better. This one is a bit opaque and the carpet nibs show through to the top. The packaging could have been better. The mat shipped flat, which is great, but it was exposed a bit on one end where it had worked through the cardboard. It was still fine however. All in all, I would say it's a great buy. ... show more

    • Okay, still makes wheel divets on regular house carpet
Well, its as thick as ive seen these things get, but im on regular .6 inch deep house carpet and it makes divets as soon as you settle in so that if you want to scoot an inch closer you just rock back into the divets. Im on an old 60's aluminum task chair with tiny wheels, though. Its sorta better than plain carpet, just not sure if its $50 better than bare carpet. Ill try it for a couple of weeks and see what I think. If it is as durable as the reviews say then it may be worth it in the long run. Im not sure what other options there are for regular house carpet depth home offices. ... show more

Less than six months of ownership, and my mat is cracked a bunch where my chair is most of the time. I weigh less than 200 pounds and already I need to replace this. Not happy.

The chair mat is very durable and is great at helping to protect our new carpet from the rollers on our office chair. One thing I don't like is that if I sit in one area for a long period of time the chair rollers leave dents in the mat, The dents do go away but I am concerned about the flexibility of the mat over time and if the dents will go away when I move the chair. ... show more
