Fishkeeper brand is something you can rely on while affordable for hobbyists. Magnet is as strong as magfloats, but this has handle for easier maneuverability. The only negative is the plastic mount for glass scrapper.

I requested the Fishkeeper Aquarium Strong Magnetic Glass Cleaner Brush after having experienced the use of a much smaller square magnetic brush product that became a 'chew toy' stolen off the aquarium stand by our youngest Bassett Hound. I think she did it out of jealousy over the newly acquired aquarium and Tiger Oscar getting a lot of attention but I can't say for certain. Anyway, this brush if far superior to the first one I used and is a great light-duty maintenance tool. Nothing is as good as a good physical scrubbing of the glass during a water change but this brush helps keep the algae and such under control. I like the larger size and the magnet is quite strong. If you allow the two pieces to connect without the paper divider, it can be a struggle to get them apart again. Well, a struggle for a 70-year-old with arthritis. A very good product! ... show more

To start with, the handle on this makes it appear bigger than it actually is. For our tiny tank that that this is going in, my initial impression was that it was too big... Then I used it. And it's functionality makes the size worth it. The magnet is strong, it cleaners the acrylic great without creating scratches. It transitions around the corners of our hex great, and the inside section floats great if it becomes detached. The handle is also a lot nicer than the grip on most magnetic cleaners we've tried. I also have a reef tank, where I use a name brand magnetic cleaner. I'm honestly considering picking up another one of these to replace that. I'm that impressed with how it performs. One thing I haven't tested is the blade scrapper portion. I am using this on a basic freshwater tank, so I don't need anything other than the scrub pad on the inside of the magnet. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is my second experience with a magnetic glass cleaner. The Fishkeeper boasts strong magnetic properties, capable of working with glass or acrylic up to .62" thick. My 50-gallon corner tank, with a thickness of only half that, presents a challenge for most magnetic glass cleaners due to its curved face. However, the Fishkeeper managed to handle it well. A notable feature of this cleaner is the removable scraper, which comes in two types: a plastic one for acrylic tanks and a metal one for glass tanks. Both scrapers effectively aid in algae removal. Despite having a glass tank, I used the plastic scraper, and it still performed admirably. In terms of cleaning performance, the Fishkeeper does a decent job. My algae tends to be stubborn and requires a coarse scrubbing pad with an extension and some effort to remove the weekly growth. With the Fishkeeper, the process took a little longer than usual, but the results were better. Although the cleaner occasionally moved a bit choppy on the curved surface, changing the direction of motion resolved the issue. I did notice that it required a bit more force to move the handle, which might be attributed to the strong magnetic force and the cleaner's surface. Nevertheless, the scraper managed to reach the edges effectively, leaving the overall surface cleaner. One significant advantage is that the Fishkeeper's cleaning process causes less disturbance to the fish compared to using a traditional brush and extension rod. The instructions were helpful, and I highly recommend following them, as the magnets' high strength requires careful handling to prevent accidents. ... show more

This magnetic cleaner replaced my old one that was no longer cleaning as effectively. Since getting the Fishkeeper’s glass cleaner I have been very happy with its results. It has allowed me to clean my 38 gallon bow-front with single passes instead of multiple. The handle is another plus as it has given me more control over the movement of the cleaner, my old one did not have this feature. The most noticeable difference between the two was by far the magnetic strength that the Fishkeeper’s aquarium glass cleaner has. The magnets it has are so strong that I would suggest heading the warning included in the instructions that tells you to avoid making direct contact between the two parts. Embarrassed to say, I found this out the hard way. The magnetic connection was so strong that it took my husband armed with a flathead screwdriver to pry them apart! ... show more

This aquarium cleaner does a wonderful job at cleaning my glass tank. It has a scratchy Velcro for scrubbing. And a Velcro cloth for the outside. My only complaint is that if you get the two pieces stuck together it is almost impossible to get them unstuck without the help of a flat leverage tool like a butter knife. That magnet is super strong. Haha They give you a cardboard piece to keep them separated so don’t loose it. ... show more
