I redid the floors about 3 months ago. I had a big chunk of red hot embers fall out of the stove, and this kept it from ruining the floor. If you have a fireplace or wood stove, you need this!

This fireplace rug looks and functions as intended. It’s nice knowing if any coals or embers were to fall out then it won’t damage my floor at all. It’s very light weight and I don’t like how easily it moves.

I am pleased with the coverage size. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and have had no problems with the mat. There hasn't been a large ember to land on the mat so I can't yet say how well it will hold up in that situation. However, I can attest to It holding up well to one of my cats trying to use it for her nails, lol. It's nice and thin also, so there's not much of a trip hazard which is a bonus! I haven't had a problem with the mat moving much. I will use some stays if I have any problems with it moving around. As the winter goes on I will update my review to show how well the mat is holding up. Though I must say, I am rather hoping to not find out just how well it holds up to hot embers! Fits perfect in front of the fireplace. It’s black and you can see the fibers in it, but I didn’t get a splinter like the other reviews said. I dont wear shoes in the house and I’ve stepped on it many times and no issues. Good value and will buy again if needed. Thanks

This rug was a little disappointing when it arrived. The size is great, but the actual material, including the bottom, all in all, is a little thinner than I would have hoped. It is thin enough that I am ordering a pad to go under it for our fireplace hearth. Others may like it "as is" but I want a little more substance to it. It's a great item for the price. ... show more

Okay, this fireproof mat may not be the most attractive piece, but it’s extremely practical. At 42 x 24 inches, it’s perfect for protecting the area in front of your fireplace—whether it’s carpet, tile, or a nice rug—from potential ember damage. A few years ago, my sister decided to paint the builder grade unattractive tile she had in front of her fireplace and it looked great… until an ember flew out and turned her white painted tile into gross looking brown sludge that she still has to this day, lol. Now had she had this mat over her painted tile, her floor would still look good! The mat is made from fiberglass with a non-slip silicone coating and can withstand temperatures up to 2000°F. I didn’t test this out, but there are videos that demonstrate its ability to withstand fire and it looks impressive. It’s also waterproof, making it easy to clean with a vacuum, broom, or damp towel. The mat rolls up for easy storage, and the quality is definitely there. Again, I don’t think this is a mat that I would necessarily leave out all the time, but in my opinion, that’s not the purpose of this particular product. If anything I would place over the soft and very flammable easily destroyed rug I usually have in front of my fireplace (my dogs likes to lay I front of the fireplace). I plan on using this at my vacation home in front of my wood-burning fireplace, but I wanted to at least snap a picture in front of my electric fireplace just so you can get an idea of the size and how easy it can be rolled up and stored. At the end of the day, this mat would provide me peace of mind while I have my wood burning fireplace going so I am really happy with it. A five-star product for its purpose! ... show more
