Description

the Firefly Offset gutar is longer and heavier because of its offset-waist body, which makes the guitar more comfortably playable and balanced while seated and it's a position popular amongst jazz and blues players. The guitar has classical JM pickups( Neck output 6.5K,Bridge pickup output 11.4K) which sounds fuller and warmer due to its wider pickups and good for higher-gain. The Guitar used Wilkinson M series two point tremolo bridge.The Wilkins trem, sure adds more beef to the sound,the incease in weight adds more bass,fatter mids and lets the higher frequencies dance over the bass and mids more evenly than the traditional Fender type tremolo. Good playability make the guitar a good choice for many genres, primarily alternative rock but also blues, jazz, country, and classic rock. Very pleasantly surprised that you can get this much guitar for this little money! I was a little concerned when the box showed up at my doorstep with a bit of impact damage but was relieved when I opened the box and saw how the guitar was packed in nice form-fitting styrofoam for protection. I'm really impressed by the fit and finish on the guitar. I could not find a single blemish in the finish and everything looks fantastic. I was particularly impressed with the fingerboard and fretwork. There's not a single sharp edge on any of the frets on the guitar I received. The fret job was just as good as my MIM Fenders. While this is not a downside for me, my guitar did need a little setup work and a slight adjustment of the truss rod to relieve a little back bow that was causing some string buzz. Given the distance this guitar traveled and the likely temperature variances it experienced traveling halfway around the world, a little setup work was not unexpected. The guitar has a very nice clean tone. Neck pickup has a nice mellow sound and bridge is nice and bright. I wanted this guitar to have a Jazzmaster-style guitar body in my collection and it adds some new sounds as well. I did not test it out with any high gain distortion but did test it with a chorus, reverb and vibrato and it sounded great with all of them. This guitar is my second Firefly and I CAN SEE what all the fuss is about with this company! Well done! ... show more

Simply INCREDIBLE guitar from Firefly! Neck, and frets are perfect! Finish on neck is gloss on the back, and the head stock. Beautiful Rosewood fret board. Solid Mahogany body. Finish is TOP NOTCH! Really pro sunburst finish, and black back is flawless. Thick deep clear finish. Set up is almost perfect! Low fast action! Although it does not say in the description, it has a pro tremolo system! Comes with the arm of coarse. WORKS GREAT! Overall play ability and sound are really pro all the way! VERY deep sound. Also versatile with 3 way switch! Similar to a Fender Jazz Master I have. For the money, you can not beat this beauty! HOW do they do it? Firebird Music seller ROCKS! Great communication! Best value in a guitar I have ever bought!     • Quality instrument at super low price
I own several high dollar guitars, I wanted one with the offset body. I took a chance not expecting much. Great quality, set up like a real player put it together. The toughest thing I had to do was peal the plastic off the pickguard.

    • neck warped
I wanted to love it but i got it and it was unplayable. I brought it to a luthier/guitar technician and was told he had never seen a guitar in that bad of condition new out of the box and the only remedy would be to replace the neck which would cost more than the guitar.

    • Poor finish work but straight neck
I had low expectations overall for this guitar but the price was right. The burst is spotty as it transitions from the dark edge to the lighter interior. Poorly buffed finish, lots of scratches. Needed a set up upon arrival. I set up the guitar and it now plays very nicely. It's very playable out of the box but a good set up was needed. Nut slots were to high, I filed to proper hight. Neck, so far, is nice and straight. Fret ends not polished but at least there's no fret sprout. Top of frets were good. No name pots, switches and pickups as expected and they have preformed well after 3 days. ... show more

First and foremost, this is a heavy guitar. That is the only negative comment. My wife bought this for me as a birthday present thinking that I wanted "Firefly" guitar and surprised me, pleasantly! I was actually wanting the semi-hollow body, but once I fired this guitar up, I am actually shocked with the sound and can wait for the semi-hollow body. The pick-ups give a nice, warm, blues sound that I did not expect. I will open this one up to add shielding. I have four other guitars and quite frankly, I cannot put this one down! Great value! Maybe Santa will get me the semi-hollow body for Christmas. ... show more
