    • Fairly streamlined to put together but...

The assembly process is pretty straightforward but there are two issues that you should be aware of. First, all of the needed screws are pre-installed into the places where they will be when the item is finishes. So, you need to unscrew and re-screw about 70 screws while assembling. In retrospect, I don't know if this really saves any time vs getting them out of a little plastic bag etc. Second, there are portions of the heater that are fairly raw sheet metal and it's really easy to cut yourself inadvertently on a number of the parts if one is not careful. I would say to consider wearing some gloves but the screws and other items require fine motor dexterity. One possible fix would be to have a plastic guide put onto the edges to prevent slicing your thumb/fingers. The heater works great and the only other challenge is installing the brackets to hold the propane tank. This is one portion of this item that is underengineered and not absolutely clear. The idea is to secure the heavy steel propane tank so it doesn't move around. I do understand that but the placement of the brackets and the process of screwing in lag bolts to hold it in place is not well marked and the sheet metal bottom of the heater and the undersized brackets are not ideal. As far as operation goes, it works well and my I will reserve total judgment for later in the summer when I see how well it winds up working over a few months time. UPDATE : 1/6/20 NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE. WARNING . First of all we have loved this thing and have had to replace the starting module with new hose once since we ordered. We had not used the unit in 9 months nor had we inspected it. I was pleased when it quickly fired up. As I was closing the lower side panel. I noticed dirt daubber nests around the top of the propane tank. For some reason, I felt a need to knock them away with my hand. and barely touched the gas hose but apparently it was brittle and ruptured. Flame exploded up and all around me. I apparently reacted fast falling over backwards. I felt flames all around my upper front torso and proceeded to roll to my stomach. Everything went out except flames around my arm which I patted away. The unit was engulfed in flames. I grabbed a hose and put the fire out. Bottom line is some small burns on my hand and my hair is singed away raggedly across the front of my head. I need a haircut badly now.I smell like burnt hair, but am thankful that it was gas all around me that burned and not me or my nonflammable shirt. CHANGE THE GAS HOSE very couple of years on outdoor gas appliances. I will change out the control unit again or just but a whole new unit. They are a lot cheaper now, I still like this thing even though it tried to kill me. Five stars if the instructions were the least bit competent. Worst instructions I have ever seen. And "seen" is a flattering word as we had to use a magnifying glass to enlarge the microscopic images. Item is well made and we are pleased with the finished product. After you have put one together, a second would go together in about 45 minutes. Just allow 1/2 day + for the first one. The manufacturer needs to get out of the instruction business. I liked that the frame is screwed from the inside out as well as from the outside in. Also, the glass tube and gas controls are very high quality. One dislike is if you ordered brushed bronze, you may just get flat black paint. That's what I got. And the paint was so bad I had to redo it. But the frame rails were good powder coat, and the safety screens are stainless steel. If you don't want to chance the brushed bronze, just order the stainless model. ... show more

We bought two and they really keep us warm in the winter. Now we get more use out of our patio during the year. The only thing we had issues with were the assembly. The instructions were not clear and actually were a bit misleading so be very careful when you put them together and look at the details closely. My husband is a mechanical engineer so he was able to figure it out, but it required a couple of disassemblies and reassemblies, which was annoying. Once they’re put together correctly though, these things are amazing and definitely keep you warm. Well worth the money! ... show more

All the screws come pre-installed, which leaves the buyer having to take every screw out, and then screw them all in again. Also, the screws, at first, all look alike, but there are actually 2 types, which would've been helpful to know. The hardware lists 66 screws, but shows just one type, and this is INCORRECT! When I had trouble getting screws out of one of the parts, the seller did a GREAT job sending me a replacement part right away, though, so they are doing great customer service. NOTE: when igniting for the first time, look in the troubleshooting section for the part that mentions that the brand new line can have air in it, so run the propane for 2-3 minutes to clear the air. It worked right away once we cleared the air! Love how it's running so far! ... show more

    • Pyramid heaters do not put out a lot of heat. Works great, just like the other sub $200 models. Poor insructions

This is a great heater for the price. Are there better heaters? Sure! Pay more. This is more show than heat, but remember, this type of heater puts the heat up the glass tube and it reflects off the tops "hat" or cap. Pyramid heaters are more show than substance. That's why it is safe to touch the sides when it is turned on. My wife and I sit on our deck a chair on each side, and it is perfect, and people LOVE the ambiance when it is on during parties, and stand near it for some heat. Pick this if you are on a budget and want a nice functional heater and show piece. Instructions are horrible, basically they are fuzzy pictures with no words. But almost anyone can figure out how this goes together, my 14 year old son did just fine. If your not mechanical and intuitive you may have some trouble. I've been using it for weeks, and it fires up on the first click every time. I own 4 of these now, all from different suppliers, and this one is my favorite. bigger wheels for tiliting and roll, and a nice Fire Sense Logo near the handle. ... show more
