Description

Designed for the man who has held down the low end for Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Jane’s Addiction and many others, the Duff McKagan Signature Bass IS rock ‘n’ roll. Based on the instrument he has used ever since the first GNR album, the Duff McKagan Signature model is a distinctive, sleek and full- sounding reissue of the ’80s-era Jazz Bass Special, which combined a Precision Bass body with a Jazz Bass neck and Precision and Jazz Bass pickups. That’s all here, with a Pearl White finish, gloss black neck and headstock, TBX treble/bass cut circuit, black hardware and custom skull-engraved neck plate.

Great balance, not too heavy, smooth neck, solid sound. If you're into punk rock and rock and roll, this is the bass you need. I only saw a minor defect: the tuners are quite hard to rotate, but I just put some lube while my replacement (better) tuners arrive.     • Do yourself a favor and buy the MIJ Boxer PJ bass instead
Fender quality control has really gotten bad over the last few years. I received my Fender McKagan bass with a horrible setup and non-operational P pickup. The nut wasn't filed correctly. The fretboard was still covered in polishing compound. And yet, the tag attached to the bass showed that the bass passed quality inspection with flying colors. The MIM Fenders used to be a decent value with consistent quality, but it seems with the increase in prices the correlation has been a decrease in quality. The Fender MIJ Boxer PJ bass is a far better option at this price point: it's essentially the same bass with better features and stellar quality. Avoid any MIM Fender like the plague at this point. ... show more

    • Holy Neck Dive!
Played one of these, and was shocked by the extreme neck dive it had. I am talking Thunderbird level neck dive, which is unusual for a Fender. It was also heavier then it needed to be. Not sure why Fender can't slim up their heavy bodies like this a little.
