  • Simple and straightforward- perfect for the job
Great value. The assembly instructions could use some work and some additional pictures, but once it is assembled it's very easy to use and works exactly as you would hope. It's easily adjustable to whatever thickness you want to mill your slabs to, and it easily attaches to the chainsaw bar without marring. Overall, the product is very lightweight and sturdy, and though I have only used it for a couple of hours, I'm confident this will last for years. ... show more

  • This is a GREAT TOOL!!
I set this up originally on my electric chain saw.. It works really good.. You need to be a little mechanically minded to put the saw Mill together. TAKE YOUR TIME.. The quality of the mill seems to be top notch. Good hardware. Once you add the chainsaw. It's a little bit heavy. I'm 72 years old. I'm in pretty good shape. So it wasn't a big deal with the weight. You need something to support the log while you cut it.. I use some saw horses I built. It's takes some work and PATIENCE at first. I really, really like the results after getting to know the mill. I would highly recommend it to you. Like I said, you have to be HANDY WITH TOOLS.. I've cut juniper logs into slabs. Then I used my table saw to bring them to the right size.. So far I've cut slabs and made 7 cutting boards. See pics. It takes a little skill and PATIENCE. I'm sure you'll be happy with this saw Mill. ... show more

  • Will get a lot of use!
Easy to assemble, included screwdriver and nut drivers that were needed. Very sturdy and light weight. Easy to work with, gives me some great cuts with little practice time. I think it is a great value for the money!

  • Garbage welds, rust on arrival
The instructions are a joke. The welds as pictured are sloppy and poorly made. It will not last very long. It's obviously a cheap knock off is a better product. I have a friend that can weld and I will have him fix these welds.

  • Great for the price
Overall, a pretty good mill. Solid product for the price. Was pleasantly surprised to see some extra small parts like washers nuts and bolts. Once assembled, fairly easy to use. Using this mill with a 24" bar and full chisel skip tooth chain for faster cuts. Rough, but faster. The instruction book has some good tips on setting up for milling. Some minor issues: Assembly instructions are awful. Use them, but use the photos to guide how to assemble. Its not very complicated, but you want to get it right, as this thing is holding your chainsaw. That said, the pictures on amazon don't match the assembly instructions in some parts. The amazon listing pictures are incorrect in a couple of places. The assembly guide shows the bar clamp bracket with the wings on it should be mounted on the "thrust end" of the rig. This makes sense, as the "thrust end" will be the side your chainsaw motor and trigger are. You'll be pushing on that to move the saw and mill down the log. This means that end will be pushed up against the side of the log all the time. Those wings on the bar clamp will help slide the bar clamp over rough spots. But the photos show the winged clamp brackets on the "nose end" of the rig. Follow the assembly guide on this part, but you can use the photos to see how everything else is assembled. Second issue i have is with the tensioning bolts for the bar clamp brackets. They are in an awful place. When running shallow cuts like milling 2 inch boards, if your bar clamp brackets come loose or need any adjustment at all (and they will), the design makes it very difficult to access these. The bolts are trapped under the bracket holding the clamps. You have to loosen the depth posts (u-bracket bolts), slide the bar clamp post down, away from the bracket holding the depth post, just to tighten or adjust bar clamps. Then of course, you lose your depth measurement, and have to recalibrate. A 13mm open end wrench helps here, but it is still a bit tight to get in and make adjustments without a complete refit. It would have been nicer if the bolts for the bar clamp tension were reversed, and tightened from the bottom. Since the nut is welded to the bottom of the bar clamp, no options. Another reviewer posted using lock washers. Highly recommended. They provide lock nuts for some parts, but even lock nuts can still vibrate loose after being broken in. ... show more

  • This is a good way to make your own lumber with downed trees.
Setup for your first cut is critical. I use a STIHL Magnum MS 661 to mill the trees. The saw has plenty of power to chew through anything I have cut including cherry, oak, walnut and cedar. The portability to be able cut lumber in the woods is very convenient. Make sure you periodically tighten the nuts on the mill. ... show more

  • Not as described
This didn't work as described, here's the thing, sure This chainsaw mill will work with a 16" or 18" saw. However, your saw needs to be 70CCs or hirer!! Any lower then 70 ccs and you'll be standing there all day cutting. So our 52Cc 18 inch saw, smh, works, but not well. And to put this thing together, smh, you better take an entire day off, just to put it together! There's over 100+pcs. And the directions, 😆, they might as well be in Chinese because the images, isn't the same as the item. And it's extremely hard to see how to put it together with their directions. I believe it would be a nicer saw mill, if you could use it with an affordable saw. Unfortunately not everyone can afford a 70Cc, $1100 chainsaw. Shoot most stores including lowes & home depot, doesn't even carry that large of a CC, u have to special order it, and then it starts at $1,350. So just think twice before purchasing, and read your CCs, it's under your handle on your chainsaw if you don't know your CCs. There's a tag right on the handle. Best of luck guys, wish I would have known this Information before purchasing, because I wouldn't have purchased it. Some false advertising here. Sure it works on a 18 inch saw..... smh such a lie...... only if.its above 70ccs! ... show more

  • Decent product for the money
There are a variety of units like this out there. This is my second unit of this type and I’ve cut more than 300 cedar and fir boards and planks. It really works well as long as you are capable of sharpening your own chains, as they need to be sharpened often. This unit has better welds than some of the others and is holding up very well. ... show more
