These are fabulous dishes but be aware that the color varies noticeably even within in the same set! I find this annoying so I had to give them a 'fair' rating. If the color were consistent, they'd be a 4 or a 5. I haven't used them yet so I cannot comment on durability.

This is a great set of dinnerware. I love the simple, yet attractive finish. The matte black with the rust rim has a modern minimalist vibe. The stoneware is durable and versatile. It is also dishwasher and microwave safe. It does get hot in the microwave so I would recommend hot pads to remove the dish when using them in the microwave. There are four dinner plates, four smaller plates and four deep bowls. The dinnerware came packaged really well and had no breakage. I selected the very attractive and modern looking matte black set with the reddish brown rim. The plates and bowls feel solid and have a nice weight to them. I appreciate that the items in this set are large enough to hold a good amount of food. These are both microwave and dishwasher safe, and the scratch resistance is beneficial since my son and his roommate will not treat them as gently as I would. My set arrived today. It was in good shape but I was really disappointed in the color. On my computer the ring looked like a red or even a blood red and it is more of a brown. I was bummed out.
