    • I have been curious about these hoses for years
I have seen this type of hose in cheesy commercials on independent or cable channels. The commercials remind me of Ronco ads years ago for a pocket fisherman. Our rubber hoses have lasted for over 15 years, but have gotten kinks in them and the outer covering is failing. Time to replace them. Rather than spring for a 100 foot version of this stainless steel covered thing as a test, getting this 12 foot version is a great way to see how good this type of hose is in practice. After using this a few weeks, I rather like it. The brass end fittings are well made and the stainless steel covering appears very durable and is very flexible. The hose came with three extra rubber gaskets, a nice touch. First, gone are the kinks and fighting the hose to keep it straight. That is fantastic. For that reason alone, and getting rid of the constant frustration of our current hoses having to be untwisted every time I use them, I will by more of this type, albeit in longer lengths. Second, the liner being about 1/2 inch as opposed to 5/8 inch is more of a feature than an annoyance. In our case, I didn't actually notice any real reduction in GPH rate, but pressure is up. This gives me a bit more reach. Since we do not water a lawn, just lots of plants in pots and for clean up. Our 1/2 acre is planted in plants and trees that don't need regular watering. I would not recommend driving over this style hose laying in your driveway with your car. Other than that precaution, I can recommend this style hose. As to the 12 foot, that will be useful for some people. If not, these are available in lengths up to at least one hundred feet. In our case, this will become an extension, or for draining the water heater for maintenance. ... show more

    • Great replacement hose
I am putting an addition onto my house including an additional external faucet so needed a new hose. Have never tried stainless steel versions before so thought I would give this one a whirl. I’m not sure what I expected but this definitely was not it. Compared to my usual rubber hose, this one is much smaller and so far doesn’t seem to kink. I assumed steel would be heavy but this one is only a fraction of the weight of my rubber hoses and very easy to move around. So far no kinking and it is so much smaller than the rubber one that it will be very easy to coil and store. It has brass fittings for attachments at each end. The only drawback I have found so far is that the brass fittings are a little thin and were not too easy to attach – had to use a wrench to get it tight, and even then it leaks a little. I think I can fix the leaking easily with a little plumber’s tape but haven’t tried it yet – still amazed at how light and easy this one is to use. Haven’t had it long enough yet to know how durable it will be but so far it has been great and wish I had switched from rubber hoses years ago – I’m assuming I will have this one for many, many years. ... show more

The hose works well so far. The nozzle broke during the first use. Couldn’t figure out how to contact the seller to see about getting a new nozzle, hate to return the whole thing for the junky nozzle.

It carries water really well :) Seriously though, it makes a strong connection, and being metal it feels really strong / sturdy and like it would hold up well to rough conditions. I got it specifically to take water away from a sump pump. The 12 feet is a little shorter than I really should have gotten, but that's not the fault of the product, just a word of warning to consider that.
