I was a little concerned when I read some other reviews and saw that they got stranded wire. When mine arrived It was definitely not stranded. The wire I got is solid wire that I am finding is very easy to work with. The box it came in was a little difficult to open, but luckily I only had to do that once.     • Sometimes, I like my wire solid, not stranded. Good packaging.
If you need multi-color wire with a solid core - this is it. I use this for breadboarding - it works great and solves the problem weak/loose connections from too thin leads. This insulation is easy to strip. The rolls and dispensary are good enough. A wood dowel allows the wire to be pulled from the spool and out through the box. There is a matching "stranded" version which makes this a nice "combo". In general, choosing a type of wire is so simple, yet so hard. Nobody likes to buy the wrong wire and have a dead roll of wire sitting on the garage shelf for 40 years only to become 500 ft of scrap.     • Good "Solid" Wire
This is a great box of wire for both breadboard use and PCB soldering use. When using for a PCB, this wire is suitable for connections that remain on the PCB. If you are connecting a device to the PCB use braided wire. The coating on this wire is thick which will work in most scenarios. If your project requires a lot of wires on the breadboard this wire may not be suitable. Try something with a thinner coating (like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B8873S0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1).     • Nice set, good value, but quite fragile if bent
These come in a nice box that can be a dispenser, the wire is uniform, easy to solder. But be very, very careful in stripping not to nick them at all, and even then minimize bending -- I have broken numerous ends off just repositioning the wire after soldering. Makes me suspicious how much copper is in it, quite brittle. If you are careful though, it works fine. I am torn in saying how much of that is my fault from rough handling, and how much it is brittle. Be aware of the issue. ... show more

It is exactly as described, which is exactly what you'd want in a product. It is tinned copper, so it's easy to solder to and has good conductivity. PVC is not bad as an insulator for protection of the wire, but it does shrink and become soft when heated to soldering temperatures. This doesn't seem to be as bad as other PVC insulations in other products, however. The colors are vivid and distinct from each other which really helps. They did send me a case of stranded by mistake, but sent a replacement with no argument ... show more

    • Precise 22 AWG solid wire, exactly as described
This wire measures 0.645mm in a micrometer, 1.5mm including the insulation. It is exactly the size that 22 AWG solid wire should be. The wire itself is tinned pure copper core with PVC insulation. This means there is a thin layer of tin between the solid copper core and the PVC insulation. The wire appears silver in color when you strip it, but you can look at the cut end and see that the core is pure copper. This wire is perfect for prototyping and breadboard jumpers. It's stiff and not flexible like stranded wire, good for retaining bends and shape/position while prototyping.     • Perfect Product in Every Regard
It is so rare but so wonderful to come upon a perfect product such as this one. The wire is perfect, the spools they come on is perfect, the box is perfect, the wood rod the spools are on is perfect, and the dispensing holes in the box are perfect. I must, however, fault Amazon. They mailed in in a bag instead of a box. luckily, the box arrived in fine shape. The sturdiness of the box probably saved it. ... show more
