  • Far beyond the basics
This Ever Sewn : Celine sewing machine offers features far beyond the basics. This is a full size machine with mid-range features that has the fit and finish of a far more expensive sewing machine. It's lightweight enough to take to classes. It has all of the features I consider essential for all purpose sewing like a drop in bobbin, 1-step button holes, automatic thread cutting, a free-arm, needle up/down, and speed control and many more features that make sewing more enjoyable and encourage creativity. It is a computer controlled machine with 197 stitch patterns that are available at the touch of a button. It has a bright light on the sewing area. The available stitch patterns include a variety of straight and stretch stitches, which are essential for sewing knits and stretch fabrics. There are also 60 decorative stitches, which are especially nice for making infant and children's clothing. There are seven, 1-step, button holes to choose from. There are also one font (upper and lower case), although it is more utilitarian for labeling clothing. This is not an embroidery machine so you cannot download patterns and create embroidered monograms, embroidered designs, etc. The machine comes with a slide on, extension table which is great for supporting knit fabrics when sewing so they don't distort. Additionally, it comes with 7 , basic, presser feet, a well written owners manual and a dust cover. You can buy a wide variety of specialty presser feet, too, as this machine accepts snap on feet. Note that there is no walking foot included with this model but they are widely available for purchase and you really only need one for sewing certain, challenging, fabrics or matching plaids. It uses clear plastic, Class 15, bobbins that you can find anywhere and 5 are included. The machine has a plastic case but it's solid. It has the look and feel of a more expensive machine. It reminds me of Babylock machines in the fit and finish. There is a slide off storage box to hold needles, bobbins, presser feet, etc. It has a flip-up carry handle. The on-board bobbin winder works well and winds bobbins evenly and smoothly. It has a black and white, LCD display that's easy to read. It's simple to thread, too. There is a clip on, stitch reference card included and you will find the clip inside the storage box on the machine. I love that there are marked guide lines on both the left and the right of the needle. I also love the clear bobbin cover to you can see at a glance how much thread is left on your bobbin. I am very impressed with how quiet and vibration-free this machine is when in use. Straight out of the box, I had to adjust the tension a bit to get a well balanced stitch but this is easy to do via the tension dial on top. The manual explains clearly what a balanced stitch is and how to adjust the tension. I immediately did some sewing but noticed I was having skipped stitches. I rethreaded the machine but it didn't solve the issue. Finally, I changed the needle and voila! I haven't had a single skipped stitch since. So I suggest changing the needle from the one that comes installed (even though it is presumably brand new) if you have any stitching issues. I have only a couple of minor complaints. One is that the automatic thread cutter occasionally fails to cut the threads. Another is that you cannot program the machine to always end in a needle down position (or at least, I haven't figured out how to do it if it is possible.) Other than that, it's a pleasure to sew on. Selecting stitches and adjusting stitch length and width is super easy. I love that it can do a zigzag stitch up to 7mm wide. I also like that there is a second spool pin included so I can wind a bobbin as needed from a second spool without having to unthread my machine. And while it doesn't affect how it sews, this machine is just so pretty! It's a pale, pale, blush color with rose gold accents. I have been sewing for about 40 years for my myself, my home, my family and on commision and I sew everything from baby clothes to home dec to wedding gowns so I am an experienced sewist. I have also taught many other to sew. The Ever Sewn brand was new to me but after research, it is made by the Brewer Company, which is owned by Bernina, a brand of fine sewing machines. I would say this machine is well-suited to any sewist - beginner or advanced. If it is within your budget, you will likely be pleased with it. As with any new sewing machine, I strongly suggest reading quickly through the manual before sewing because it will save you some time in the long run but it's a very user friendly machine. Finally, here are my best tips for happy sewing no matter what machine you buy: keep the bobbin area clean. Brush out fibers regularly - with every bobbin change is my rule. Lint in the bobbin area messes up your stitches. Use quality thread. Cheap thread breaks and sheds and frays and gets lint all in your machine. Use the right size needle for your fabric. Try to avoid sewing over pins. If in doubt, re-thread your machine. That will fix most issues with stitches that aren't due to lint in the bobbin area. Happy sewing! ... show more

  • not worth the money for me
I wanted to love this machine, but I had to return the first one as it had a malfunction. The second one works OK occasionally and unthreads itself for no apparent reason and it took me forever to get the tension correct to make a nice seam on the upper and the lower part of the material, I would say it’s a good starter machine and I may buy another sewing machine higher end and keep this one as a back up. I use it for quilt piecing! In the picture, it appears to be a medium beige color but it’s not it’s pink, unexpected but cute!. The thread cutter works most of the time but occasionally you have to push the button two or three times to get it to cut! Update, now the thread cutter is unthreading the thread and has to be rethreaded each time! I’m over this machine! ... show more

  • Great little machine for the price!
I had originally purchased this machine to leave at my daughter's house so I could sew when I visited and maybe, when she is older, teach my granddaughter how to sew. It's light enough to be portable, but, being a full-sized machine, can do just about anything I can throw at it. I fell in love with the machine and decided to keep it at home to take to classes. I have had machines that cost up to $13K and didn't like them any better than I like this one. Just yesterday, I made a mask, hemmed a pair of pajama pants, and altered some work uniform pants. It handled the batiste as well as it did the knit and 6 layers of lighter-weight duck. Putting the belt loop back on was as easy as sewing the back seam with only 2 layers of fabric. The wide range of stitches allowed me to make a reinforced seam and finish the raw edges. I am not sure why people are having some of the problems reported: bobbin problems, jamming, needle threader, etc. Some could just be inexperience. As with any machine, you can't just start sewing without reading the owner's manual. Each machine has its own little quirks that you learn as you go along. This one doesn't have that many quirks, IMHO. I highly recommend it for the occasional sewist or quilter. ... show more

  • Great Travel Machine
As a quilter I was looking for a Travel Machine with automatic thread cutter as I like to sew when I travel ….but did not want to spend a lot of money as I already have at home two JUKI”s. This machine gets the job done. It is about 19 pounds a bit heavier than I wanted but fits perfect in a suitcase and I pad it so it can be checked. Happy with everything except the tension which can be tricky - hence just 4 stars. ... show more

  • Great for a newbie!
My mom tried for years to teach me to sew. I found this machine in the clearance aisle at Walmart for $100!!! To good of a deal to pass up. We have been living in our camper for a year while renovating our house we bought. I was bored to death, so I bought this machine and watched YouTube videos on things to make with a sewing machine. I saw these towel boas and I’ve made several! I’m addicted to sewing. I’m about to try my hand at making a quilt. I was so glad to see this machine has a quilting feature! I’m glad that at 50 years old, I have learned how to use a sewing machine! (I had my husband model for me!) ... show more

  • 60 Dollars cheaper everywhere else
Much cheaper elsewhere, also no waiting on shipping, This is a Good Machine, especially for the Pro. It will do some heavy sewing on many layers, including canvas. Very sad indeed.

  • i was looking forward to enjoy and use this machine
I purchase this machine first from walmart and return it after one week and it jammed and i thought it was a bad machine . I brought it from Amazon again and the machine after changing the bobbin has a problem. The bobbin does not hold the tension and I even took it to a sewing store and they look at it and they said the machine is cheaply made and even told me I had to pull up the thread and still it the bobbin doesnt hold the tension. I now had to buy another machine do some of my work until i can get this machine return and get my money back. I spend alot of money and these are hard times. AMAZON why are. you not making sure we get our money back when the product you sell is not workin on your site during these hard times. I spend over 375 dollars and this machine doesnt work!!! ... show more

  • The bobbin was very difficult to fill.
The bobbin was a problem to fill. The thread kept getting caught in between the top notch and cause the thread to tighten and break.
