Easy to install-only suggestion is a longer cord from the wall plug to the unit to give more flexibility in how it is installed. Due to various issues on the wall, I needed to have the unit installed upside down. Shouldn't affect the units performance but needed a screw at the bottom of the unit to hold it in place so it doesn't slide out of the device to store it. ... show more

    • Not really compatible with a Bolt
The charger works. You can switch the charging current. I tried 24,32 and 40A, all worked fine. There is one major problem though - as soon as it finishes charging the car it disconnects from the car and won't connect back (for battery conditioning or pre-heat) unless you unplug it and plug it back. So keeping it plugged in to a charged car (which is recommended in the winter) doesn't make any sense. My OEM charger keeps connection and would provide power to the car when needed. ... show more

    • Doesn't reset
I have a problem, and seem to collect EVSEs! This is an ok, if overpriced, EVSE. It's not safety rated that I can see, but the biggest problem is that it doesn't reset. When charging stops for any reason, you need to unplug this and plug it in again for it to charge again. This is problematic for many EVs, like the Nissan Leaf, when you use the car's built in charging timers. When you plug this EVSE, the Leaf "tests" it, then goes to sleep and waits for the charge timer to fire. Unfortunately, the Woshion thinks it's done charging, and won't start when the car wakes up to start a timed charge until you unplug it and plug it back in. For this reason, I keep in the car as an emergency road trip backup charger, since in those situations I'll be manually charging the car and the timer issue won't be a problem. For these reasons, give this EVSE a pass- there are better, cheaper, (and safety-certified!) EVSEs more worthy of your money. ... show more

    • Solidly built, but scheduled charging doesn't work on my Tesla
As others have stated, this charger appears to be well built and has a long, thick charging cord which is still very flexible. Due to the size, it is a tight fit to get the charger in its case and it takes up a fair amount of space in the car. The charger worked fine charging our Kia Niro PHEV and Tesla MY (with a J1772 to Tesla adapter) so long as we didn't use scheduled charging. I tested the charger with adapters at 120V @ 12 A and 240V @ 24 A (using a dryer socket) and it worked in both cases. However, when I tried scheduled charging on the Tesla, the charger seemed to be unable to communicate with the car. With scheduled charging, the car needs to communicate with the charger to start and stop the charging. When I plugged the charger into the Tesla if scheduled charging was enabled I'd hear two loud clicks and charging would never begin. Even when I tried to start charging with the Tesla app, I could not initiate charging. I tried this at both 120V and 240V with no luck. When I disabled the Tesla's scheduled charging, then the charging would work. By the way, "scheduled charging" is different from the charger's "delayed charging" feature (where the charger initiates charging after a delay) and I assume that would work (I did not test it). Another reviewer mentioned an issue with a Chevy Bolt which sounded similar to me. So if you want to use scheduled charging, you might have an issue with this charger. One other observation is that like other chargers, there is no on/off switch. I can understand leaving one small light on when the charger is not in use so you at least know the charger has power and is ready for use. But this charger leaves all its lights on, including all the charging lights. I guess it's great for keeping the garage lit at night, but for me it's annoying and I'd probably switch off the circuit breaker (breakers are probably not designed for a lot of on/off cycles) when the charger is not in use. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The level 2 EV charger by WoShion, is a shockingly great charger for Tesla’s and everything else that needs to be plugged into the wall. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. 40A vs 32A – Unlike my included Tesla charger that charges at 32A, this one will automatically charge your car at 40A, if the car and socket can handle it. That cuts a significant amount of time off my charging each night 10%. II. Quality – This one is built very nice with everything included feeling like great quality materials, that should last a long time. III. Ease of Use – I can only talk about it with a Tesla 3, but it should be similar for most electric cars. To set-up and use it is simple. Take it out of the included carrying case and plug it in. I didn’t have to set up anything or get an app, just plug and charge. That’s assuming you already have a Nema 14-50 plug. IV. App – Some people will find the app very helpful and its user friendly. Most of it you can handle through the Tesla app, but for all others. V. Thick Cables – The main cables on this thing are thick, like almost double the Tesla cable. (see my video) It should cut down on energy loss and it definitely cuts down on the temperature of the cable while throwing all that electricity throw it for hours. As a bonus, they have a temperature gauge in the screen that tells you the internal temperature of the charger. VI. Price – This is a great price for this level of product compared to the competition currently. VII. Features – Most of the features are already available through the Tesla itself, but for everyone else it offers a lot of great features that are very helpful. Overall, this really is a great product to charge about any EV. Its priced right and works great with quality to go with it. I highly recommend it to any non Tesla owner. If you have a Tesla then it’s not about the features, and more about if you are going to get a 2nd charger anyways or if you want to charge at 40A. Either way this is a great choice that will not disappoint you when it arrives.
