I’ve tried literally 20+ shampoos to try and tame my hair. I have particularly difficult hair (very thick combo curly/wavy, oily/frizzy medium porosity) and have been on a quest for shampoo that actually makes my hair manageable. This shampoo bar completely cleanses my hair of oil and product/mineral buildup and still manages to not strip my hair completely of moisture, which in turn makes my hair less likely to tangle and reduces frizz. I wouldn’t recommend this for everyday use but i only wash my hair once a week ideally to prevent hair damage. Within two weeks (two washes) I have noticed my hair is a lot more manageable and generally less oily. Even after a few days my hair is still not overly greasy. The bar has a mild citrus scent that is not overwhelming at all as approved by my scent sensitive family. The scent still lingers enough that I have gotten compliments two days after I’ve washed my hair about how it smells. The bar lathers absolutely incredibly, you only need a few passes of the bar through your hair and three seconds of scrubbing for it to start really foaming, my hair was undoubtedly engulfed in suds while I was washing. They are not exaggerating about the concentration of this bar- you really do need significantly less product than with conventional liquid shampoo. The only thing I really have any problem with is how soft the bar is. You have to be careful not to grip it too hard or scrape it with your nails or anything because it will dent. It doesn’t fall apart though! It can also take a fall in the bathtub as far as I can tell. For such a soft soap it’s important to keep it ventilated- a draining soap dish or equivalent is a must. I have thick, coarse, curly, dry hair. I need moisture, frizz and curl control as well as a detangler. Normally I have lots of hair in my shower after washing not to mention the tangles. I read all the reviews before trying this. Was disappointed that some said it didn't last or lather. I just wanted something to take on my vacation for two weeks. TSA has the liquid restrictions and I was going to have to check a bag just to take enough conditioner/hair products for two weeks. My problem has been solved. I now have a shampoo and conditioner [ as well as a leave in bar). I tried this to be certain of the results before packing. This has been a blessing. No more tangles, my curls now behave, my hair is soft and smells great but not over powering. I even used the blow dryer to speed up the drying process. I never did this before unless I would flat iron just because I would look like einstein before the flat iron... even with product! Now I have the hair I wanted. The shampoo lathers well. Just wet your hair and the bar and lather up! The conditioner works great. I usually use alot of conditioner just to get through my tangles. With this conditioner I just rub this bar over the front and back of my wet hair after shampooing. When done I rub a little in my palms to get a very thin/light coating then finger comb it through my hair. I have a dry scalp so I make certain tu use some on my scalp, shower then rinse. I use the leave in conditioner the same way, but do not rinse. I use moisturizer shampoo and alternate the next shampoo session with a frizz control bar. Just twice a week and my hIr already feels and looks great compared to what it was. I bought some for my friends who needed the volume control instead of the moisture and frizz. Each one loves it and saw good results. One of them has difficulties holding bottles and washing her hair, but she said the bar was much easier for her hands to use. This is my new product! No more expensive shampoos and no more recycling bottles. I feel I am using less product than the bottles, so this is a fraction of what I was paying! The other savings is a plus as wel.. it goes right inside my personal item.. no more worrying about checking a bag just to get 2 weeks supply of hair product!! ... show more

I was slow to adopt shampoo bars - and I'm glad I did. There is no sweet, spicey scent to this bar - but it smells fresh. It does not "perfume" your hair. I work this into my roots and outward and the lather is amazing. This is the only bar that I tried that leaves my hair fresh the entire day. Other bars left my hair feeling heavy and lifeless by the end of the day. I have thin hair, but plenty of it and I need a daily hair wash. Ethnique is pricier than some others, but when something works, it works. No more plastic bottles cluttering my shower. Easier to travel with. Works great! ... show more

I chose this product to use on my cross country trip instead of dealing with the usual liquid (and TSA). Super easy to travel with, and works amazingly well. Nice smell, no residue, and clean feeling. Did I mention it’s super easy to travel with?!
