Toys aside, this solar charger worked great last night when I tried it out. A very handy product to have on hand if needed during an emergency. UPDATE: I placed the charger in the sun for several hours and only one blue light was solid and recharging electronically, which beats its purpose, takes several hours. Great for when I'm streaming vids on my phone. Will last overnight and THEN some! PLEASE NOTE that there IS a certain way you have to plug in your iPhone or USB micro to the powerbank to charge something! You have to put the cable into the item to be charged (i.e. an iPhone) and THEN plug the USB end into the powerbank. I've noticed this with all my other powerbanks, so try that before cussing it out! I love the fact that I can use the carabiner to attach to my big purse. Please note that others have said it takes a while to solar charge. I use solar charging to supplement my regular charging. A cond-It IS a bit heavy, but compared to the other pros, it's worth it to me. Besides, I put it into my BIG purse aka the dumpster with a shoulder strap, so a little more weight won't hurt. Excessive heat doesn't hurt it. Found that out when I put it on my dashboard to solar charge. I have about 2-3 (I keep giving them away to friends and family!!!) and keep them charged up. They hold a charge really well. I keep one in my car also, because you NEVER KNOW when you'll need additional charging. In fact, if I'm going over 60 miles from my home, I'll make sure at least ONE is available to me. I also have one in my CERT emergency bag. wouldnt buy another one but nice to have in emergency. just does not last long on single day charge and does not charge my cell phone up much, for that matter if your cell phone has more charge than this thing, it vampires your cell battery.

Charges quickly and holds charge for fairly long time. Charge primarily with electrical hookup and then if I am outdoors supplement with the sun. Works both in Europe and US with only connection adapter and no need for a converter. Worth every penny. Even though I have had this for over a year, I didn’t use it right away. And only one trip prior to this. I Needed this to work! When you’re away from civilization and in need to make calls to check in and receive during my trip. Super important and this charger was an epic fail! Totally unreliable! I had a family member that had gotten ill after I had left, and needed to check in and receive updates so I needed to have a charger for my phone. All the lights in the unit said it was fully charged and the flashlight worked on it. I even tried 2 different cords and another persons phone cord as well. And frankly if the case swelled even a little bit more and the leaked it could have caused a MAJOR damage to my clothes, dry bag and my rafting equipment. I was lucky that another person with a much better solar charger let me use theirs. I would not buy anything with this brand name! Not worth taking the chance of failure! ... show more

    • Odd battery life behavior
I don't often review products, but I felt compelled to comment on this battery. I have used a lot of portable batteries. I own no less than five different ones. I was intrigued by this one because of its solar charging ability. That said, this is my LEAST impressive battery. Let's start with the solar. Yes, it does seem to work. No, it isn't great at all. To be fair the manual states that the solar is for "emergency use only" and should not be used as a means of charging. Well, that is definitely true. You should never epxect to get hardly any charge out of the solar capability. That's not what makes it a poor battery. It is poor because it has extremely odd charging behavior. There are 4 indicator lights for charge. The first two seem to last forever. Then the last two are stable for about 5 minutes of charging a cell phone. Also, when it charges it takes about an hour to get to 3 lights. Then it take seven more hours to fill the last one. It says it has a capacity of 20,000 mah, but that simply cannot be true. One full charge of this battery can barely charge my phone all the way once. I have another 20,000 mah battery, and it can easily charge my phone 3 times all the way. Maybe mine was defective, but I'm not impressed witth the capacity at all. Of note, the manual says to "charge the phone for 10 hours the first 3 times to unlock full capacity" No idea why it needs this. I DID do this, but the resulting capacity is still terrible. Unfortunately, I do not recommend it. Solar is a useless gimmick Capacity is terrible Charging rate and display is odd and makes no sense. Overall, there are much better options out there. ... show more
