Should I Buy It?

If you are frequently on outdoor trips and need to keep your devices charged, this solar charger can be a valuable investment, provided you can tolerate its slow solar charging speed and make sure it's sufficiently charged before heading out. However, if you're looking for a quick solar charging solution, this product may not meet your expectations.

  • Love these chargers! Highly recommend!
I love these portable chargers. Over the last few years I've purchased three different sizes of three different brands. I'm back today to purchase another, just in case. Yes, they all still work without any issues. All are very easy to setup and use. These do take longer to fully charge so realize that before you get negative about it. I began using mine to charge our phones and tablets to save on electricity. Every little bit helps, especially down South where the electricity rates are outrageous. I charge each one for a few days on a windowsill and they're good to go. Charges phones and tablets a few times before needing top ups in the sun. Highly recommend them and particularly this one. Great item for emergencies, BOB, traveling an at home, too. ... show more

  • Review out of the box, after charging.....update to follow
The media could not be loaded. This review is FIRST impression out of the box after a FULL charge via USB/ electricity. WARNING: If you plan on using this for a camping trip or when you have NO ACCESS to POWER, I HIGHLY suggest you order this WELL IN ADVANCE, since the instructions that are included state that in order to FULLY activate the battery, it must be charged for at least 10 hours via outlet or computer the first 2-3 uses. 3 flashlight modes: *Standard flashlight *Slow flicker flash light *Fast flicker flash light *Compass *Carabiner *Micro USB charger Based on instructions, its Waterproof via rain, but NOT if fully submerged or dropped into water. That may include a puddle, based on my assumption. It seems pretty sturdy, nice rubber side grips, like the style/design. Looks rugged, hopefully after using it outdoors it will show durability. Out of the box, the solar charger had quite a bit of a charge based on the indicator battery lights but it wasnt 100% charged. So I connected the included USB charger and charged it FULLY....took a couple hours. I will be testing it out and about. Hoping to get a decent amount of uses out of it before I have to fully charge it again. I plan on running it to empty the first 3 uses to ensure I'm creating good base chargers. Its all about Battery memory. IYKYK If not, do an online search on Battery memory / charging tricks I shall update as soon as I can. I plan on cycling through 4 charges/uses total. 3 on electricity and 1 on a solar charge as instructed on the instructions manual. Please check back. ... show more

  • Solar power charger
It didn't work. I plugged it in, charged it all night long. The lights quit flashing thought it was charged. Took it to games left it laying out in the sun not getting hot but out in the light so that it was continual charging because the light was blinking. My daughter tried to charge her phone it wouldn't work I tried charging my phone it wouldn't work. The only thing it seemed to work on were those stupid puffers that the kids smoke on. I would have given it a minus five stars but you don't have i that option. What is really upsetting is when I went to return it I had to pay to have returned because the boxes you sent it in wasn't adaptable. I know it's not going to be a big deal for you guys but the last three products I've had ordered have been a failure. I do not believe I will be ordering anything through Amazon, it cost me $12 to send things back. I don't feel like I should have to throw $12 away for products that you send me that are fallible. Sorry not happy will not be using you again. ... show more

  • Takes forever to charge, overheats in the sun
I've had these for four years and only occasionally used them until this year when I went on three camping trips. They're great as powerbanks, fine as flashlights, and absolutely terrible for charging from the sun. The issue with these battery packs is that in order to charge effectively, you need really good sun exposure and you need to make sure they don't get hot. This is an inherent issue with both batteries and with photovoltaic solar panels. But it becomes a bigger issue with this product because it's a tiny solar panel. Let's take a real life example: You leave them on a flat surface like a table. Even outdoors in a breeze, the product gets pretty hot all over when laying flat. I find that they work better if they're hung on something and you can figure out a way to angle it towards the sun without covering the entire back. For me, it was the bug mesh screen on my tent. Bonus points if there's a breeze and you're in direct sun in a long clear day. The ideal use case for charging is so limited that I can't recommend this if you think you will need the solar charging. For me, I might purchase a small fold-up solar panel setup and plug it into these powerbanks, making sure to keep the powerbanks in the shade. ... show more

  • Worth the money
The light is bright. It is super convenient. I use it to charge my phone while I’m at the ball field all day on the weekends, I love that the sun charges it and it doesn’t matter if I forget to charge it before I leave home!
