Excellent Product. This is the first time that I have used this resin product. I used the resin for a 2.5" deep mold, 5" height, 4" Wide. I followed the directions exactly; voila, perfect results! My project required me to layer the resin within the proper time frame. Mixing the resin exactly as directed in the instructions is crucial, warm bath for the resin, and 3 minutes gently siring properly. You can't be in a hurry. I monitored the resin for bubbles to possibly develop on each layer for about the first 15 minutes for each. There were very few bubbles which were popped accordingly. I walked away too soon in monitoring the last layer and there were a few bubbles when I returned. Bad thing to do. The resin already started to cure. I waited a little longer, drilled into the resin to reach the bubbles to pop and cleaned drill dust thoroughly from the mold. I poured another thin layer of resin to fill bubble holes and coat the face side completely. There are a few tiny bubbles, but they are not any big deal and not that noticeable. I believe the bookends turned out beautiful. The Craft Resin Store has great customer service! They promptly sent me replies to my questions that I needed answered quickly to save me from my bubble problem (my fault). This project turned out beautiful. It's crystal clear. I used this to make a chessboard and found it very easy to use and crystal-clear. Be warned, this has a low viscosity compared to other epoxies, but, wow, does it cure smooth and glossy.

Love this Resin! Easy to use and hardens within 24 hours. Little to no bubbles in my resin projects. I love that it is food safe. It takes mica powder and liquid resin dye very well. I use this for resin pieces like shaker molds and the like. Once I used it to coat a wooden base for a doll stand, which turned out really beautifully. I'm VERY happy with how simple it is to use, how clear it is and how few bubbles it has when it's finished. It doesn't smell like much, or else I'm too used to the smell to notice it. I wear a respirator & gloves when I work with it, in any case. It can fail (like any resin) but it fails less than other brands I have tried and is a good price, so it is at the top of my list. I did try to use the gloves because, you know, waste not, want not, and within minutes my hands were ON FIRE, so I switched back to my usual gloves. I dunno what kind they were, but it's just a little something to look out for. They gloves aren't actually part of the product, so my review isn't based on them. ... show more

Just used this yesterday and it set up beautifully! It dried crystal clear, no bubbles and was ready to remove from molds in less than 24 hours, was actually ready in about 12 hours. I've used other brands in the past that ended up drying with a yellow tint, not this one. I couldn't recommend it more, in fact I just ordered 2 more gallons. This is a good kit, 1 gallon total per package. It is a high gloss, crystal clear epoxy resin that dried overnight (3/8" thick). This resin is self leveling and pours easily. The key to a great pour is in the mixing, add equal parts resin and hardener in a painters measuring cup with flat sides and bottom, the use a flat paint stir stick mixing for about 3 mins min. while scaping the sides and bottom. The instructions will say "do not scape sides while pouring due to non blended mix) you will not have this problem if mixing as stated here. You will see the bubbles start to dissipate as the resiin becomes clearer, keep mixing then pour. Use a flame from a propane torch to remove any air bubbles. (Very few if any air bubbles will form is mixed in the above manner.) There is very little as far as smell goes with this mix and I had about 1 hour working time at 80 deg. Let cure for 72 hr min. Bought this epoxy for a DIY natural slab coffee table project. I'm not an expert with epoxy work but neither it is my first time. The instructions on the box were a joke, like mix 1:1 and pour, no detail, and written in a funny style, like "wear eye protection if it makes you more comfortable, although it is not needed", maybe the translation from Chinese is to blame. Pros> Crystal clear liquid, hardens transparent. Produces virtually no smell. Low viscosity, penetrates detail and self levels well. Hardens to touch (although remains somewhat soft) in about 24 hours. They say 21 days to harden completely. Cons> If you mix it too much it breaks into thousands of bubbles, some of them will never come to the surface. If that happens discard the batch and start again. You need to work in a warm place and maybe heat it with a heat gun while pouring, although the instruction never mentions that. If you not mix it enough it won't settle. The bottom part of the hole I was filling won't harden in 3 days. I had to scratch it out and fill again from the other side, and the quality was not ideal. Not sure what was the reason, maybe mixing. Also, due to its penetration and low viscosity features it would leak out from any small hole. Make sure you mask the bottom and sides very well with several layers of tape. After several days it hardened and I tried to polish the surface but realized that it is still like a soft plastic, easy to embed any dust particles. Bottom line: from the first use, a decent epoxy but not easy to use, maybe try on something small scale first, see if you like the process. ... show more
