This is the one! I do not have pets and have never allowed smoking in my house, but I do have allergies and live in the worst place for allergy sufferers. This unit works great. It makes my home a little refuge from the world of allergens! It keeps me from waking up with a stuffy nose, which is priceless. It is a little noisy on high but it just sounds like a fan running and it's better than other units. I only run it on high if I've had it off of move it into a new space and need to filter a lot of air fast. It will dry the air out some but not to a level that it causes me any issues. I have not noticed an impact on my electric bill. I loved it so much that I gavd my niece one. She has two dogs, one cat, three turtles, a lizzard, and a new baby. After running it for two days in her living room she had to vacuum all the hair off the intake and her house smelled so much cleaner, which is great for the baby and me! I bought this after receiving the first one as a gift I liked it so well.. Truly improves the air quality and reduces odors from my apartment neighbors' constant cigarette smoke. And yes, now that pot's legal I have to deal with that skunk-like odor too. The filters are reusable if you vacuum them monthly with an upholstery round brush they last years. Saves lots of money not having to replace the filters. I like the cool air from the fan blowing on me and the white noise when it's on high blocks out most disruptive sounds. I have COPD and this air purifier with the option to use the UV light seems to reduce the allergens and dust, dander, etc. so I have fewer exacerbations, lighter symptoms and can breathe easier than without it. I've used the Envion Therapure TPP440 and its predecessor air purifiers for over 2 years and have only good to say about them. They've improved my quality of life immensely. They are on all the time, usually on high. I don't miss the true HEPA filter at all. This is as good but better cost-wise. I have 2 in a 16X16 foot room with a 7 foot pass through to the kitchen and 4 foot hallway. ... show more
