With so many options in the market, finding the right bike storage rack is not easy. It was time to make some room in my garage, I had a 4-bike floor stand that took too much space, moving the bicycles to the wall was my only option. I wanted a rack that was heavy duty, not like most of the ones offered everywhere that are not strong enough to withstand the weight of the bicycles without bending. Another issue that I saw on most bike racks is that they require to use too many screws, drilling multiple holes on the wall. Once I narrowed down the options available that met my needs, I ended up with this monTEK bike rack. This rack was easy to assemble and install; in my case I installed it on a concrete wall which I think it'd be the hardest to install, still it wasn't difficult at all. It required to drill four holes only, and it supports the weight of four adult bikes perfectly fine. The rack itself is heavy duty, thick, long enough to hang four bikes without a problem (alternate front and rear tire). The hooks are strong and big, they can slide to your desired position on the rack. There are two additional hooks that can be used for helmets, backpacks, etc. I have around $12k worth of bikes hanging on that rack, I trust it to keep my bicycles safe. ... show more

My husband had some difficulty getting this installed. Once it was actually in place we like it and it holds our bikes well. One of the bolts with the black plastic turner broke off as he installed it. (He was using his fingers, not torquing down with a tool.) I was concerned the hinged 'swivel' designs would fail eventually under repeated heavy load, potentially causing damage to nearby items in my garage, so I decided on this fixed design. Simpler is better to me, in some cases. The installation was very simple. Instructions are clear and labeled, however the screws are not labeled in the packaging but are labeled in the instructions (it's not a problem, there are so few you cannot possibly get the mixed up anyway). The lag bolts this comes with are large. The rigidity after correctly anchoring into studs is impressive. I am confident this can hold far more than it is rated for. The hooks latch on from the top and are secured using a hand screw underneath making repositioning or removing a hook take just a few seconds if you decide to change things up after installation. The hooks are designed in a way that allows you to angle the bikes when hung at a 45 degree angle to the right if placed in the angled notch of the hook. When hanging 3 bikes, I noticed alternating the orientation made them fit easier. Front tire on left hook, back tire on middle hook, front tire on right hook. I'm using this to support two, adult size, cruiser style bikes. These bikes are meant for a comfortable ride. So they are not light weight bikes. When I received this kit I looked at all the parts and I was impressed by their quality. I put off installing this rack because I just didn't want to go through all the bother of setting it up. As it turns out installing it is pretty simple. Four screws to secure the two pieces of horizontal bar together and then four more larger screws to secure the bar holders to the wall. All that was needed was a screwdriver, drill and wrench. Finding where to attach it to the wall is the hard part. Because of the size and weight of the two bikes I wanted to make sure I had the rack screwed into wall studs. I was lucky there in that the building I'm installing this in has unpainted walls and you can see where the plaster board has been attached to the studs. I choose a spot about 80 inches up the wall (the bikes are long) and secured the bar holders. The thumb screws on the bike and helmet hooks are a nice touch. I left the thumbscrews on the bike holders a little loose so that when I load/unload the bike they can slide a little. I need this wiggle room because of the bike width. While it's possible to store 3 bikes on this it makes it difficult to remove or hang them.. I found it to work wonderfully with 2 bikes tho!! You can even use the 3rd hook to store helmets or a bag with gear etc. Easy to assemble and very strong! You need to have a proper place to install it tho, (not for sheetrock) you need a solid wood or cement wall preferably,. If you own a stud finder you can also mount it directly on your studs but make sure you have both brackets centered on the studs! ... show more

The wall mounted bike rack from monTEK really helped me gain back some floor space in my garage. I was able to hang a couple of off-road mountain bikes that we havnt used in years, saving me from having to sell them or give them away. The extra hooks for helmets or other sporting goods is a nice bonus so you dont have to hang them from the pedals. I dont think this type of rack system is good for daily use, but it definitely helps get extra bikes out of the way. ... show more

To start: you are going to want to install these in your wall studs, so you should probably have a stud-finder. I already had one for other installations, and so this was easy for me. The mounting hardware is good: loops install in the studs, then the crossbar runs through the loops. There is decent adjustability for the hooks that hold up the bikes. I am using this with two conventional bikes and one e-bike. So far, it is holding up well. It saves a ton of space, for sure! ... show more
