I can't really say much other than it looks great, because I haven't been able to give it a spin. Reason is, the front tire hub came with to nuts to put on the wheel, oneon each side. Well, one of them is not tightening, when I feel it's tight I give it a turn and it loosens up. I tried the other nuton both side and it works well, it tightens up. So, I bought a new one, different style but same size and it's doing the same, loosens up on either side. Can someone tell me if the manufacturer can send me a replacement of it? Or which one will fit that I can purchase on Amazon or elsewhere. Thank you. ... show more

    • Well Made but poor shipping packaging
Very well made bike, fairly easy to put together. Packaging could be better. For the most part bike was well wrapped and had a few pieces of foam to protect it in the box but Fedex managed to punch holes in side of box and lower front corner. This resulted in the ends of the front forks to badly scratched and the front brake line to be crushed and ruptured meaning the front brake does not work at all. I am awaiting the response from the seller about replacement of the front brake and will update review and number of stars to let everyone know how it is handled. I did purchase 2 bikes, 1 for my wife and 1 for myself and am waiting on Fedex to deliver the second. Both shipped on the same day. Seller double checked with me to make sure I meant to order 2 bikes. Nice customer service on their part. Took first ride and was pleasantly surprised at how well it handles and how quick it is. First E-bike and did lots of research. Many great features for the price point and the logan brakes work great on the rear. edit: 7/26 Second bike showed up and was in much better condition. Very well packaged and survived Fedex handling. Got a response from seller on damage on first bike and they are sending out replacement parts to make it whole again. This bike will work and you will have some fun when taking a trip to a grocery store or just out for a ride in general but this is all I have to say about the bike. I have a more detailed review below on my experience but for short, I would recommend that you buy the Amazon warranty if you really really really want this bike. If you do not want to buy the Amazon protection, find a different bike from a different company because this company, Engwe, is not good. I got my Engwe as a gift from a group of friends. The organizer of the group of friends is no longer with us (RIP) so you can only imagine how frustrated and emotional one can get when customer service gives you a cold shoulder when you are trying to fix your ebike. Its like they automatically assume that we are trying to scam them. Looking at the reviews for their other models, it seems people have had similar experiences. Do not spend your money, you will most likely be able to find a bike with the same specs for cheaper and it will be reliable. I received the bike back in May of 2022 and I was happy beyond belief because I was out of a means of transportation. Was riding home from work and the bike just shut off on me randomly. Bike has 980 miles on it. I turned the key off and then turned it back on and After waiting about 2 seconds, I get error code 30. I do some researching online and I read across 2 possible issues of what the problem could be. I read that either the controller is defective or the display is defective. I also followed an article that tells you to inspect all of the connections and the wiring to ensure that there is not any damage. There wasn't any damage to the wiring so I reached out to customer service. Customer service sends me an email with the same article that I already read to troubleshoot and they tell me that they want video of the issue that I was experiencing. I sent them the video of what they were asking for. Video was of me trying to use the thumb throttle and it not working. I also tried using the pedal assist and it was not working just as I explained to them. They emailed me back and told me to do the procedure of the article they sent me and to record me doing so. I rolled my eyes but did it anyway. Now they want you to disconnect everything and reconnect everything; They want you to open up the controller compartment to unplug and plug them back together which in my opinion is very dangerous because someone could easily run into the issue of leaving the battery key in the on position and someone could get severely shocked from the 48v battery. I did what they asked in the instructions and put everything back together. After I folded the bike back to normal riding mode and pressed the power button, the bike refused to turn back on ever again. I emailed support with pictures and more video of what the issue escalated to and I have yet to receive another response from the customer service department. I look online to see if I can purchase a new controller display, a new controller and other important components that may need to be repaired or replaced. I am very much heartbroken over this because there is a lot of sentimental value in my situation and I am trying to be as calm and collective as possible. I am going onto many other websites to see if I can find solutions in the form of instructions or parts and I cannot find anything. Their website shows that they are selling the bike for about $1400 but yet they don't have spare parts for the US. They have replacement controllers on the UK version of their site but I cannot ship anything to the USA. They do not provide controllers or displays that are compatible with their products in case something does happen. I tried looking for controllers that had the supported features that the bike has and I could not get any information. I even tried to see if I could find controllers and displays on ebay and I could not find a thing. My review for this item is going to be based on part availability, customer service and build quality. Since you cannot get parts for this bike anywhere, I would recommend people stay clear of getting anything from Engwe and similar companies especially if you are buying here in the US. If you can't find parts for it, you are wasting your money. If you are buying it as a gift for someone, I would suggest that you buy something else that is known like Swagtron, Lectric, Rad Power, Joulvert and similar. The reason why I call out these ebike companies by brand name is because each one has an authorized dealer in the US and when you have an authorized dealer, they can service the bike and they can get replacement parts. Not only that, they provide customer support instead of telling you to record a video to email to them for them to tell you that they need more videos. That is a 0 in my big but I have to leave a review and for that a number of 1 is given. Customer service, I already touched on in the above paragraph so that is set to a 1. I would give them zero but again reviews need a number. Telling someone to send a video of them following instructions is asinine. After following instructions for the problem to get worse is outrageous. Telling the person to then send another video after they indicated that the first troubleshooting steps made things worse, that is unforgivable and pretty much disrespectful to the customer. Solid 1 point for that. As far as build quality goes. It could improve but I had to bend the rear fender apart because they rubbed against the tire. When I was fixing that, I found that the rear wheel was not centered properly, the chain was rubbing the wheel, the derailleur was bent and the front brakes had air in their lines so those had to be blead for safety reasons obviously. When inspecting the controller during the troubleshooting phase, the cutouts for wire routing had very sharp edges so I had to wrap the wires in the compartment in wiring loom wrap to prevent any wearing from rubbing. I was surprised that they did not have damage on them to begin with when I found them. Although I fixed the fender rubbing issue, I found that the rear wheel is not centered in it's place correctly. The rear fender is centered after I had to bend it back into shape but the rear wheel is off center to the left by a few millimeters where it is noticeable. I am pretty sure the front fender is the same as the rear fender, they just screwed on different mounting support brackets to distinguish what is the front and what is the rear. The bike is cheaply made and they are charging for premium quality. The thing that it really has going for it is the speed and the distance you can travel on pedal assist. The regenerative feature is maybe okay but it's not that noticeable to the average person. My review on this is a one. I would highly recommend buyers to buy a completely different bike. Buy a bike that has authorized dealers and where you can get parts. I listed a few. I was very excited with the bike when I first got it especially since it was gifted to me from the best friends in the world but my optimism and excitement has dwindled down to an ember with all of the rough patches that I have been running into with customer support, odd and questionable build quality. It just amazes me how just a couple of bad experiences can turn around an out like or perspective you have on someone. In this case, my perspective towards Engwe is negative and even if they resolve my issue, I will no longer do business with them ever again. If I see a YouTube creator promoting this company, I will share my story again because people should not be treated in a way where they spend over 1000 dollars on a bike and it does not work after only 5 months. screws coming loose and falling off at 200 miles on the odometer. could be a bit more powerful, but other than that it's a fair bike. ----update all three suspension bolt have broke at 850 miles i only weight 120 pounds so its not like i was stressing them a whole lot

    • With Persistence, Customer service came through.
After a challenging assembly, I initially thought this was a great eBike. Then, I had to spend an extra $348 for 2 bike shop visits to repair gears that wouldn't shift + a rear hydraulic brake that was leaking + had to be replaced after only 105 miles. It took me several emails + with persistence, customer service eventually replaced their failed hydraulic brake system + cable. I've had the eBike nearly 6 mos. It has been at the bike shop for nearly 4 months. I recently received the correct hydraulic brake + had it installed. Now my eBike works great like when it was new. ... show more
