I have different types of ratchets. These don't have the "S" hook at one end; just the strap. You just wrap it around the item and crank it down until its tight. I use "two" of these, to tie down two oak pallets to my roof rack to take home. (one in front and one in back). It ended of very snug and secure! I shook the pallets hard enough to shake the car and they did not budge. I bought two more of the 7 footers. ... show more

I think it's a Great little Ratchet. I think if you use it for what it's designed for it's Great. If you try to tie down a unit of Lumber you might have a problem.

There are way many more jobs that require hook ended ratchet straps. Having said that, there are more jobs than you realize; Would have been so much easier with these straps. Life is too crazy, having these when you really need them, and not having to fuss with 2 pieces and useless hooks (for certain applications) I'm so serious! The price is good!
