The screw holes in the existing backing plate on the house wall are wider than the new lights (otherwise I could have just used the existing mounting bracket on the house wall). However, the new lights ship with an adapter plate that screws on to the circular mounting bracket that the existing carriage lights mount on. However, this adapter bracket (a swivel of two pieces of metal blocks most of the center hole where the wires come though. The adapter plate that ships with the new lights is NOT wide enough to be screwed directly in to the mounting receptacle on the garage walls, so it has to be screwed to the existing circular plate on the garage external wall (which is wide enough). On top of that, the bolts in the adapter bracket are too long for the captive nut heads once the light fixture is mounted on the wall. So, once I had the wiring done and the new light offered up in place...the nut heads could NOT be fastened as those supplied & installed. So, I had to take it all back down again. Back into the garage and shorten the bolts with a hacksaw trying to make sure that the bolts were long enough to fit though the new light fixture but short enough so that the black nuts would tighten down. Needless to say I didn't cut quite enough the first time around (remember I have to take both the existing circular plate, the supplied adapter plate and de-wire the new light fixture each time) and go back in the garage and saw another very small piece off the bolt again then go back and reinstall it again. To top it all off, once the new lights were mounted on the wall, I opened the glass pack and one of the 8 panes was broken (I bought the 2 pack of lights), so am now short of one pane of glass. There is ONLY a wiring diagram with these lights. Nothing about the adapter and having to shorten bolts and attache the adapter to the existing circular bracket on the house to get the lights mounted. I have no idea what sort of mounting bracket the company tested the mounting with BUT it is nothing like I have on my house. To my knowledge, the existing circular bracket on the house and the plate mounted in the concrete block are standard around here. The plate mounted in the concrete block looks to be about a half inch deep. The glass mounts (4 pieces to each light, one per side) slide up on each side of the square light behind small tabs at the top and rest on right angle tabs at the bottom. These bottom tabs are "bendable". However, if you bend these tabs for each piece of glass (have to be careful bending them to not break the glass) the tabs which are now at about a 45 degree angle interfere with putting the remainder of the glass pieces in). Just not a good design in my opinion. I hope the company can send me a replacement piece of glass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT 12/21/2018 I have had several email communications with this company and have upgraded the review to 4 stars. They have sent me a replacement piece of glass via UPS (due today) for the broken piece. They have listened to my suggestions for improving the mounting mechanism. All in all, they are a honest and exceptional company to do business with. They told me that they will look at the mounting brackets and screw lengths suggestions as well as a suggestion to have some sort of silicone backing for walls like mine (stuccoed concrete block) that are not smooth. In spite of my difficulties in mounting these lights, I have upgraded their review to a 4 star review based on their willingness to work with customers. A business model to be admired! ... show more

Exactly what I wanted and represented well in the description. Took me less than an hour to install both. It took longer to remove the old lights and prep the area. I would use 60watt Edison LED bulbs 100 watt seems way too bright.

    • Great lights for the price

We purchased these lights because we liked the design and the size and the fact that they'll take 100 W bulbs, which we also purchased. We purchased three lights. Very little in terms of directions, which is why I give the product four instead of five stars. The installation of the first light took about an hour and the next two took about 10 minutes each, once we figured out how to set them up correctly for our installation. I broke the first glass panel because there were no directions. So, for future purchasers and installers, when you go to install the glass panels, slide the panel all the way to the top and hold it there while you bend the prong up, just far enough to hold the glass. For the first panel I installed, I let the panel rest on the prong as I bent it up and I broke off the corner. OK, stupid me. Luckily, in the double pack, they sent an extra glass panel which I was able to use, otherwise, I would have put the cracked panel in a less conspicuous spot than on the porch. I am remodeling the house, and replacing 13 fixtures. Compared to other options, these are stylish and affordable. Build quality is ok, they are made of lightweight material but honestly if you are exposing your wall sconces to wear-and-tear, you are Doing It Wrong. Handle them with a bit of care while installing and you will not have an issue. They look Great when they are installed. I'm leaving a 5 star review because these are a really good value, look fantastic, and the company's customer service was refreshingly On Point. Despite excellent packaging, one glass inset was broken. Thinking nothing of it, and still happy with the product, I ordered a replacement set of glass. The next day, I got a message from the company. Someone noticed that I ordered the replacement glass and they Proactively Reached Out to me to ask if something had broken. Then they refunded the price of the replcement glass! I didn't even have to ask! When I buy stuff online, I usually just assume that there will be no support for the product outside of returning it. This was an incredibly refreshing change! The product looks great, build quality is OK (just handle with some care while installing and they are fine), and customer service is Amazing. Love these new lights and the new fresh look they have given my front door. My neighbor installed them for me with no issues. I love the seeded glass. I only wish there was a complimentary light for above my overhead garage door. I did find a light that works with the design of these lights. I used the Edison style dawn to dusk light bulbs. They work great and I love the look of the bulbs as well. I didn't know dawn to dusk bulbs were even made until another neighbor told me about them. I give 5 stars for the lights and the bulbs. I liked the lights so much I ordered two more. One for the side entrance door and for my screened in porch. Great value for the money and look. Highly recommend. ... show more
