This is a great digital clock with dual alarm for the price. I bought three of them to replace my aging red LED digital alarm clocks. It has an internal clock calendar chip that restores the time, date, and user preset alarm times after a power outage. I like that it also automatically changes the clock time on daylight savings time (DST/PST) day. No more annoying task to do twice a year on this clock. Pros: -Clear large LED display and alarm settings. -Tactile feel on large snooze button. Easy to located with fingers in the dark. -Several user preset Digital AM FM tuner channel storage and digital volume level. The volume and tuned channel won't accidentally change when bumped. My old alarm clock had annoying dials that I sometimes would accidentally bump and consequently would not hear the alarm. -Long life coin battery powers the internal chip that holds the time, date, and alarm information. It uses this data to Smart Set itself after a power outage. Cons: -Dual function buttons can take a bit to understand for setting up the alarm times, AM FM radio channels, and brightness. -The display does not automatically dim on ambient light level. You need to manually set the display dim level. -Alarm time won't sound during power outage. If you have unstable utility power then take a look at other alarm clock solutions (like using your smartphone). -No USB charge port or auxiliary audio input. I read the reviews before buying this Emerson alarm clock radio and was half thinking I'll probably be returning it based on reviews. How wrong those people are! I've had 2 alarm clocks since my long time radio alarm clock became unreliable. I bought both at W, and those radios were aweful. What you want to know about this Emerson.. The radio volume can be adjusted pretty high, and for waking in the morning you would not likely set to more than 1/2 the available volume range. When the radio alarm starts, the volume is very low and gradually increases to your volume setting (over 5-10 seconds). Sound is clear. Obviously this is not a high end stereo, but the clarity is very good. I like the ability to reduce the brightness (4 settings, I keep it on the 2nd from dimmest setting). The green LED is different, I can see it, but for 30 years I always had red so its a change that I'll get used to. Time sets automaticlly with no problem. I only set one radio station which is somewhat local and not the strongest signal and it works fine. I like that station in the morning over other stations with a stronger signal. Dual alarm mode is nice. I did read the directions, which I normally never do because a couple things were not obvious when setting the wake up times, but very easy to operate. the only downside is the lettering on each button is black (they did not fill the letters with a color for contrast), but after a couple days of using it I know where the buttons are and there is no issue. Battery backup is a CR type flat battery that's already installed. Bottom line, radio and alarm works great and this was exactly what I was looking for in an Alarm Clock Radio! :-) ... show more

The size of this Emerson radio is perfect for the night stand. The ability to choose different alarms for the week and the weekend, was what sold us on this radio. Those are the good points. Now for the bad. The instructions are horrible! The translation from Chinese to Chinese English is very poor. I have worked with small electronics devices for many years and have never had the frustration experienced when trying to set alarms, radio stations or buzzers, and getting them to be saved so they do what they are supposed to do. We downloaded the users guide so we could read the type but the poor directions offset the ability to read the poorly worded instructions. If the instructions were clearer this would be a 5 star purchase. The rating was downgraded because of the instructions. ... show more

Pretty good little radio. Not sure why people are bashing this and saying the instructions aren’t clear…..because they are! Unless they’ve done some upgrades to the manual. The radio isn’t very loud. I bought this just to have some music in the background at work. I work at an animal rescue and I’m usually working in a small building…..about the size of a trailer home. It’s loud enough to fill the whole building just right and it’s all I need. Having the time on it is just a little bonus. Which by the way….was super easy to set up. It pretty much sets it for you once you fix your time zone. It took about 3 minutes. All in all…..great radio. It gets the job done. ... show more
