Top Amazon Reviews

  • Love this Elite Platinum Digital Air Fryer!
Size: 5.5 Quart
After reading multiple reviews, decided to purchase an air fryer with the highest capacity (5.5 Qt) and largest basket while still at a reasonable price. I believe $78.33 ($80.21 Prime price - $1.88 instant coupon savings) is a super reasonable price for this 4.5-star-reviewed item. Even though I intentionally purchased a larger air fryer, I admit to being surprised when I saw how big the box was upon delivery (2 days to San Diego). I immediately washed the "drawer pan" and easily detachable "frying basket" (see more on this, below) and made my first attempt at air-frying (my brother's girlfriend's) homemade lumpia, which were frozen. After experimenting with both temperature and time, we figured out that 1 layer of lumpia cooked best at 375 degrees x 15 minutes. [The frozen homemade lumpia I used were ~1" x 5" in dimension for the regular lumpia and ~2-2.5" x 4-5" for lumpia-filling stuffed in jalapeno peppers. I could easily fit 8 regular lumpia + 4 jalapeno lumpia in a single layer.] We put on a separate timer on @ 8 minutes so that we could turn the lumpia over about half-way. I easily pulled the drawer pan out, which automatically stops the timer, to turn the lumpia, then easily pushed it back into the appliance, which automatically restarts the internal timer. (One improvement I suggest is for the manufacturer to include a visible internal countdown timer, so you'll know how minutes of cooking time has elapsed and how long it will be until cooking is completed. Currently, you have to rely on a separate, external timer if you want to turn food over at the half-way point, which is recommended.) The lumpia came out browned and crispy on the outside, and hot and thoroughly cooked on the inside. A minimal amount of fat from the meat filling was captured in the drawer pan, as designed. I also purchased an 8" accessory kit (MySit Big Large XL Air Fryer Accessories 8", Set of 9, for Power Airfryer XL Gowise Phillips Cozyna, Fit All 5.3QT - 5.8QT - AirFryer_8in for $28.82), and I'm glad I did. We were able to make from scratch, homemade Chile Rellenos, which we cooked in the 8" round Cake Barrel, and they came out PERFECTLY. Since these were fresh (not frozen), we cooked these at 360 degrees x 10 minutes, again, turning them half-way through, and they came out perfect. In fact, my husband swears they are the best chile rellenos he's ever had. We look forward to cooking a lot of different foods in our new air fryer. The included cookbook is nice, but you can easily find lots of air fryer recipes online. Though minimal, I carefully read through the negative (1- and 2-star) reviews. While this air fryer comes with a 1-year warranty, to be safe, I also purchased a SquareTrade 4-yr Small Appliance Protection Plan for $6.05, which also seems amazingly reasonable, given the total cost for this large air fryer is <$90. The Drawer Pan and Frying Basket, as well as the 8" round Cake Barrel (accessory), were all easy to clean. We washed them using the soft side of our dish-cleaning sponge in order to protect against peeling of the teflon coating. An initial mild order (probably the processing coating on the teflon drawer and basket) was not off-putting and discontinued by the time we finished preheating the air fryer (360 degrees x 3 min). Bottom line, this Elite Platinum Digital Air Fryer is easy to use, has plenty of room to cook for an entire family, is super easy to use, and produces crispy, tasty, well-cooked foods without the mess, inconvenience and environmentally fraught (disposal of used oil) of deep fat frying. Since it's essentially a small, contained convection oven, we plan to use it to reheat foods, cook other frozen (non-deep-fryable) foods, and to cook other items, making it an even better value. (I can't wait to try baking a cake using the accessory 8" cake barrel!) The only negatives I can think of at this point are the lack of a countdown timer (as described above) and how much space it takes up on our counter. That said, I have a feeling we'll be using it a lot, so I wouldn't want to put it away (even if I had space to store it, which I don't). I highly recommend this product, and also recommend purchasing an accessory kit and protection plan with it. We love it! ... show more

  • Bought a little one on trial
Size: 1.1 Quart
I bought a little one partly because I don't cook a lot, and partly because I wanted to try it out without spending a lot of money. It works as advertised, easy to use (great for me), and easy to clean (also great for me).

  • Everything I was Looking For in an Air Fryer
Size: 5.5 Quart
The "air fryer" has taken America's kitchens by storm. Everybody wants one. Most everybody is coming t have one. There are a myriad makers and sellers. Frankly the facts above for a while put me off the idea of owning one. My kitchen space is valuable. Another once seemingly Great Idea sitting in a cabinet unused was not what I wanted at all. But as I read owners' positive and enthusiastic comments -- and this about seemingly all makes and models -- I thought that owning one seemed a good idea, and I picked up a low priced, unknown brand, one locally. And to my amazement it quickly became a much used kitchen appliance. That early one I purchased, though, was small, and, alas, did not prove durable. So I returned it and started looking here on Amazon for what to me would hopefully be the ideal replacement. What did I need and want? 1) Size. I wished to be able to cook enough food for my small family and perhaps some friends. And more, I'd learned that air fryers cooked some foods (such as french fries) better when the basket is only partially loaded. So even when cooking just one or two servings a bigger machine would likely do better than a smaller one. 2) Cleaning ease. My reading showed very mixed reviews for the different makes. Some were reported to be easily cleaned, others not so much. 3) Appearance. Since I'd be using the air fryer often it would have to be out and in a convenient space, hence appearance mattered. Clean lines and an unobtrusive modern simplicity -- those are the things I wanted. The Elite Platinum seemed to offer all of these things. Its only possible drawback was its physical size. But in fact, owing to its basic design shape, it was only a bit bigger in every direction than units with much less internal capacity. My order, purchased directly through Amazon, took some weeks to be fulfilled. But it was worth the wait for the Elite Platinum appears to be everything I hoped it would be and more. Solidly built, quiet, easy to operate, easy to clean, and most important of all it is a fine cooker. My very first batch of fries come out crisp on the outside, moist on the inside inside and evenly browned. Cleanup was a breeze -- far easier than on the previous model I'd had. Yes, the Elite is big. But not much more so than the other "small appliances" -- the K-Cup coffee brewer, the espresso maker, the toaster, the vacuum sealer, etc. -- that sit with it on my kitchen counter. And like them I expect it will be seeing regular, almost daily, use. Worth mentioning as well is the unit's temperature accuracy. Just out of interest I turned it on for three minutes set at 400 degrees. I then opened the draw and pointed a digital meter at the basket. It measured 398f near the top, and 374f down at its base. A couple of more minutes and I expect it would have measured a nearly perfect 400 throughout. Superb! Each of us has somewhat different needs. But if your's match my own as set out above I most highly recommend the Elite Platinum 5.5. Quart Air Fryer. ... show more

  • Does It’s Job / Excellent for Travel
Size: 1.1 Quart
Pros: 1) Small size. Excellent for travel, which is why I purchased it. 2) Cooks just as well as my Ninja XL pictured next to it for size comparison. 3) $37 price is good. Cons: 1) max temp 390. 2) Timer not changeable once it’s set. I just use my phone timer & unplug if I need the unit to stop before it’s timer ends. 3) grill liner gets stuck. Just loosen with handle of a teaspoon to remove for cleaning. 4) Initial chemical smell does not burn off after 15 minutes as manual states. It took several HOURS! I kept it on 20-30 minutes at a time in my garage, airing out my garage in between burn-offs over a few days to finally rid the smell. Smell is 100% gone. ... show more
