  • Great service and excellent product
Size: Saturn 8K
My husband and I decided to get this as a Christmas present for ourselves. My husband loves playing Warhammer and I love the endless projects I can make with this printer. What really makes it over the top is the quality of the prints and the exceptional customer service. Set up (4.5/5): It's pretty straightforward and easy to set up, but getting it perfect (as close as I could) did take some work. I had the machine running after about an hour and was able to do my first test print. For the best print though, it took me about 2-3 days of testing different materials and settings to find the one I like. Finding the perfect setting will differ based on what resin you use. Printer (4/5): Since we love making miniatures we wanted something that prints as smoothly as possible. I've compared our prints with store bought models and they're nearly just as perfect. I can see the micro layers in some spots, but they're small enough that by the time it's painted they completely smooth out. The one downside I've found is that I have to level the plate every several prints, sometimes every print. It really depends on how hard the models stick to the plate. If you have to leverage them off, it can shift the base and you may need to re-level. It's not a big deal, but my husband has trouble getting the leveling right so I do it for him. The best tip I can give is to watch the plate when it raises (while leveling it) and check if one side is coming up first. Both should be even, otherwise you'll need to try it again. Customer service (5/5): Their customer service is top notch. Each time I've emailed their customer service, they've been very fast to respond (within a couple of hours), have had very detailed and easy to follow instructions to fix things, and are always willing to do whatever they need to help you get things working perfectly. I'm extremely happy with both the printer and Elegoo. This was our first 3D printer, so I know that at some point we'll be upgrading to the next tier model, which will definitely be another Elegoo Printer. ... show more

  • High quality prints with plenty of space for what you need!
Size: Saturn 2
Using this for miniatures for the most part, and it's a huge upgrade from my original Elegoo Mars Pro. If you have any experience with Elegoo resin printers, the menus work pretty much the same. Build quality is solid, and I have had no problems with the printer itself. The plug in air filter has done a decent job cutting down the smell somewhat, but I have it in a cabinet so the resin scent isn't a big deal. The biggest thing I had to get used to is that this printer goes through resin like nothing I've dealt with before. It's not inherently inefficient when printing, but the 8k resin is sold by the gram and not the liter. This means less resin than I was used to per bottle, and I went through an entire 1 kilogram bottle in a week solid of printing. However, I got several very high quality *large* prints out of it. Just expect about half a bottle to fill the resin tank halfway, and you can get 2-3 full print beds out of that amount before you run out of resin. ... show more

  • Updated - (After effort was made to make things right.) Frustrating experience
Size: Saturn
-Updated- After my experience I moved on and did not expect to hear from Elegoo. I was surprised when they contacted me and stated that they wanted to make things right. They sent me a Saturn and compensation resin and I told them I would give it one more try. I went through the set up process, leveled the bed, tested the LCD, and tried out the printer. After my previous failures I was able to print the Rook Test prints to satisfaction. I notified their product support staff and am posting this here. While my previous experience was bad, I am truly appreciative that Elegoo sought me out after the fact and went out of their way to make things right. They could have easily left me behind and move on to the next customer. I am going to change my Overall rating from 2 Stars to 4 Stars because of their effort to make things right. I am withholding only one star because of the previous experience. After experiencing their product there a a few features I find superior to other brands and I feel I should mention them. First the plate is angled allowing resin to drip off more cleanly as opposed to some flat plates that allow the resin to pool at the top (makes for more cleaning). This may sound like a simple feature with little value, however anyone spending a lot of time printing knows just how much time it can take to clean afterwards. Second- the resin basin fits more exactly with the guides and the screws that hold the resin basin are more aligned. This makes for a clean and easy removal of the basin with a sure fit to reinstall it, another time saving feature that helps protect the LCD. Third, when purchasing a new product from Elegoo they provide more of the basic materials to get started like tools and accessories. With the Saturn you will find a small "care package" consisting of a few gloves, masks, filters, tools and accessories to get started. (Just don't forget the resin). I hope this review helps not only potential buyers but Elegoo. Below you will find my original review, unaltered. Thank you. I hate writing a bad review, I give the company a few chances to make things right before I do so. Unfortunately I have to do so with this product. I was very excited to purchase this product and eager to see my creations come to life! I read all of the instructions, watched hours of videos and every day I would have failed prints. Granted there is a huge learning curve to resin printing and most of us will go through many trial and errors! I noticed that all of my prints were experiencing a similar trait, half of the print was pristine, and half of it was warped and striated. No matter what print, what orientation, what settings, every single print had this uniform error. I tried other slicing software, I tried stock and varied exposure settings and I made sure to update the firmware. Frustrated, I contacted Elegoo's service tech and explain that I had gone through 1.5 liters of resin (at $34-$40 per liter) and sent them pictures of the problem described. The tech asked me to send them the chitubox files and that they wanted me to be happy, so they would send me some replacement resin. I immediately sent the requested files and a couple days later the tech responding stating that he did not have chitubox software at home and he would get back to me after "holiday". I found this peculiar as, A) chitubox is a free program anyone can get and use. Why would the tech for a company that uses this and distributes it with its product not have it? and B) why would a tech on holiday respond only to say Ill help you after holiday (is there only one tech?) I realized then my window to return/exchange the printer was rapidly closing and several days had past without any company interaction. I wrote them again, stating that I am going to exchange the printer and did that. Yesterday I received my new Elegoo Saturn, went through the entire setup process only to discover that the LCD plate is not functioning. I received the typical form letter from Elegoo stating that I would be getting a bottle of resin soon and please take a moment to write a review. I received the bottle of resin, however it was basic resin and half the size (500 ml). When I made my first purchase I also bought the wash and cure station, two 1k liter bottles of Elegoo ABS-like Resin, two mini Elegoo air purifiers. So in all over 750.00 in Elegoo merchandise. So once again I have to pack up the Saturn and return it. However this time I contacted amazon and got a refund instead. I am going to spend a bit more money and try the AnyCubic instead. I just wanted to share this review as this has been an overall very frustrating experience. I wanted to give them 1 star, however the packaging was excellent as they took great care to make sure the product was safe in transit so I have them an extra star for that. Considering every single print I attempted came up striated and warped on half of the model I gave 1 star. The tech support made the whole situation worse, I wish it could have been better because I really wanted this to work. SO one star for that. Lastly I did give 5 stars for the touch screen because that feature worked perfectly. I hope this review helps not only the future buyers, but also Elegoo fine tune their product and their customer relations. ... show more
