Description

The EHX Bass Mono Synth transforms your bass into eleven great sounding synthesizers… from vintage synth emulations to thick, stacked voices to deep pulsing sounds and more. Its intuitive layout makes it easy to use and easy to dial in good sounds quickly. DRY controls the volume of your dry bass signal at the Synth Output. SYNTH controls the volume of the Synthesizer sound at the Synth Output. Used together they let you create just the right mix. The SENS control, short for sensitivity, adjusts how your playing dynamics trigger the synthesizer and allows you to fine tune the way the pedal responds to your bass rig and playing style. With the CTRL knob you can adjust a key parameter for each of the eleven synth types. It varies depending on the preset and provides more tweakability for customizing your sound. There’s also an EXP input which lets you control an entirely different parameter in real-time with an expression pedal! Using the built-in Preset footswitch, a user customizable preset for each of the eleven synth sounds can be created, saved and recalled. The factory presets are also easy to restore should you wish to. From lush, warm sounds to sharp, percussive stabs, the Bass Mono Synth puts a collection of cool bass synths at your fingertips.

  • Let me clear this tracking thing up
I don't want to insult any of the other reviewers, but you need to be very good at the bass to use this thing properly. If you have good control over your attack then you will be able to play it. I say "play it" because this pedal is a synth, and your bass is triggering the oscillators to generate a sound. Preset mode seems useless, and I understand that it produces latency... not sure why they designed it like that. But I'm pretty sure it's because EH is trying to afford you a synth bass pedal for roughly $100. Be happy with it and learn to get a tone out of it... synthesis is finicky stuff but I can still rip this thing for a couple songs! It's a good pedal, just don't expect the moon from it. ... show more

  • Tracks better then expected
Very cool sounds. Records nice deep bass Synth. Didn't need to eq at all. Runs 2 line outs, 1 Synth 1 clean. I don't ever use stomp box's on Bass Guitar. I do now.

  • Too fussy to use
This pedal is incredibly temperamental. On occasion, the notes track and the sound is pretty cool, but the other half of the time notes don’t register properly, the knobs have minimal effect and it’s far easier to make the pedal sound bad than it is to sound good. I have had it for three months, talked to the guys at a music store and had them walk me through it and they concurred it’s unfortunately a poorly designed pedal. ... show more

  • Returning It On Monday.
There's zero nuance. It either doesn't detect input or it overloads and washes out. It sounds nothing like it does in the video demonstration. No matter your adjustments it sounds like a child messing around with a theremin. You think you're gonna rock some fluid synthed-out riff working the whole neck and you get five tones and two vacuum glitches with these huge delays in attack. ... show more

  • A perfect pedal
I've been using EH since the 1970's, and in the 1980's became a local distributer of their Sovtek line. That was a long time ago, but I'm happy to report that as a consumer, I am so pleased with this pedal. It sounds really cool, and is a lot of fun to use. It seemed a little expensive ($100 is usually my cutoff for pedals), but I would definitely purchase this again. ... show more
