I ordered the HQ Pet and Livestock Electric Fence Polywire 1/8” with 9 Stainless Steel Strands to place in my chicken run. I live in a rural area that is surrounded by woods and have predators that will decimate my flock without some sort of protection. My coop is enclosed with fencing but foxes and racoons are notorious for digging under to get to the chickens. By placing this polywire 6 inches from the ground, around the coop, I don't have any issues with animals trying to get in. It keeps coyotes and wild dogs away as well. I like that the polywire is thin but is also visible, even from a distance. The polywire comes in a roll that is 1640 in length and has 9 hot wires intertwined within the rope. Putting it up was a breeze and once connected to the charger it packs a punch! It's weather resistant and has a breaking point of 310 pounds, which is plenty strong for my application. The polywire is thin and light enough to use as a temporary fence or be permanently installed. There is enough on the roll to do a 100’x100’ foot run with 3 strands and still have some left over. Good fence line. Being intertwined with rope, it helps with holding tension without stressing the electric wire. Construction appears adequate. The rope is synthetic so it should last. The bulk quantity is perfect for making continuous runs along my 1 acre fence.

Decent wire for cattle. It installed on fence posts just fine. It works with any fence charger it seems since I didn’t use the same brand as the wire. The wire isn’t super light weight but also not super heavy duty. As long as the charge is strong enough, it’ll hold in cattle just fine.

    • Very nice fencing. Bright and thick.
I am a big fan of the thicker poly wire. I have an elderly (33 year old) horse who is having vision issues. The thicker and brighter poly wire is much easier for him to see. This wire is a good value, strong, and carries a poke very well (ask me how I know 😄) I will be buying more.

This is a must have for any farm or fence line keeping things out or in. The 9 strands are conductive and work great for long stretches. My fence line is about 3 miles long and this held the charge without issue as well as the rope line itself is very sturdy. I would defiantly order this again should i need to replace my existing lines. Overall its fairly priced and works as described. This one also outperforms most store bought lines which only have 7 strands vs the 9 this one offers. ... show more
