Overall, I'm very impressed with the design and functionality of the wall safe. Although I wasn't able to install this in my home, (for the time being, since I am renting and don't want to make any permanent changes until I talk to my landlord) I found it to be really useful and clever when experimenting with it. The design of the safe makes it look indistinguishable from the other outlet plates in my home, making it blend in well. The materials and structural design feel very sturdy and durable. Even if someone were to pull this safe out of my wall, I'd at least feel better knowing that the contents of my safe are still intact and hard to remove. The only major drawbacks for me were the small size of the safe which limits what it can hold as well as the fact that the installation seems a little weak, making it easy to remove from the wall if someone were to find it. But overall I think this is a fantastic product. Pros: - Clever, unnoticeable design that blends in with my other outlet plates - Sturdy materials and build - Clear instructions for quick, simple installation - Affordable security solution - Key-entry Cons: - Requires a permanent hole in my wall - It doesn't seem to be very strongly secured to the wall if someone were to find it - Small size, limiting contents to things like jewelry, cash, keys, etc. - Easy for someone to take with them if they did remove it ... show more

The media could not be loaded. So I've been looking for a smart way to protect my valuables. I have a small safe, but what is the first thing a criminal is going to grab when they see a small safe. Someone pointed me to this slick wall safe that is small, compact, and is made to look like a power outlet. With this unique design I think it will make it much harder for anyone really to know there is a hidden lock box in my house. While the smaller box doesn't offer a lot of space It does offer enough room for smaller valuables, important keys, small documents and even money if you need a place to hide some around the house. The installation was easy. i didn't even need instructions. It came with a great cut out that let me outline it and showed me how to install it for the less capable. It took about 10 minutes to install and I've included a video from start to finish of installing the product. Big thanks to Elder for such an affordable, easy-to-use, lockbox. I am most likely going to order one for each of my roommates. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Tools: Screwdriver, stud finder (if you don't know how to find one on your own), sharp knife or other drywall cutting utensil. Pencil. Should be all you need. Maybe a hammer just to get the knife to cut through the drywall quicker. I highly recommend outlining the stencil they provide so you know where to cut. ... show more

This looks like the real thing - to the point where a lamp or anything else could actually be plugged in to sell the idea, though it wouldn't function of course. It installs in minutes and anchors well even in just drywall with no wiggle room. One star down as the internal size could be updated - since most US outlets are located 12 to 15 inches above floor, a much deeper version could be made to be more practical. As-is, its good for jewelry, cash, or keys to something else but not large enough for something like a passport. ... show more

The outlet looks 100% real. I would have used the one that it came with. However, I already had a perfect fit hole in my wall from an old phone jack and I didn’t feel like cutting out a new one. Do to the location of this hole (three feet heigh from the floor), I thought an outlet would look out of place. They are usually located closer to the ground. Therefore I used the old cable jack cover that has been in that spot since 1990. Overall, I highly recommend this product.     • Very convincing to look at, and possibly even to use
Size: 1-Gang Wall Plate
Device is just as expected, and has unusually good and well written instructions on installing it. Double check what you want to put in it because, while the stated measurements are completely accurate, it struck me that it was smaller than I expected it to be when I actually had it in my hands. Once in place it does certainly look the part and I doubt anyone would notice it at all just walking past it. The magnetic attachment of the face plate is strong, but not so strong that anyone who tried to get it off couldn't, so anyone who tried to monkey with it would find it out quickly. That said, the box is actually set up so you could plug something into it and it would take the plug. Obviously there wouldn't be any power, but so long as the plate cover stayed in place people would just think the plug was on a switch or dead, not that it was a safe, which is a nice plus and opens up the opportunity to plug a 'dead' nightlight into it or whatever to have people extra not pay attention to it.
