    • Who needs gas? (For a chainsaw)....
This is a great chainsaw. Period. I really don't have to say much more, but I will. Here are the pro's. 1. Built well 2. Lightweight 3. Powerful enough for most work 4. Great battery life (much more than I expected..I cut heavy honeysuckle scrub up to about 4-6" diameter for about 4-5 hours until the ONE battery gave up the ghost.) 5. Fast battery charging. Easy to see / understand batter charge LED. 6. Battery holds charge a long time when not in use. 7. Safety hand guard works well as a secondary lockout. 8. Good lubrication oil filler 9. Chain tension adjustment really easy. 10. No "pull to start" arm whiplash. Just pull the trigger....and cut. 11. It's QUIET! 12. You won't need to drain the gas, etc. for longer storage. Cons.... 1. Chain stretches when new. Simple. It happens with all chainsaws, and in this case, it's far easier to adjust the tension than many other saws. (This really isn't about this saw, but ALL chainsaws in general.) 2. Maybe not powerful as gas....but that's ok for most uses around the home. 3. Batteries will run out of juice and need to be recharged. Gas saws...just fill it up. Not so easy for battery if you don't have the time or a plug for the charger. (Maybe get 2 or more batteries....) 4. It doesn't have the Vrooooooom of a typical gas chainsaw...if you are into that sort of thing. Overall...if you are not a lumberjack, just a "do it yourself" homeowner that needs to cut stuff periodically, this is the way to go.     • Easy on the hands and ears
I have used my 16" Stihl and 20" Husqvarna gas saws for years but I've dislocated a finger and pulling the starter on these is VERY difficult. I tried this new electric saw with trepidation.... but I found that it cuts very well, is much quieter, and battery lasts a LONG time! I also bought an Ego electric lawnmower that my wife is learning to use (a lttle tricky at first) and the batteries are universal so charging either one is not an issue. ... show more

    • Decent value, good cutting, but clunky
I wish I could give this saw 3.5 stars. 3 is too low (like a lot of folks, I wouldn't buy something with only 3 stars) but 4 is too high (I wouldn't hesitate to buy something with 4 stars). This saw is more something that might work great for some people, but not others. I bought this particular saw because it cost less to buy the saw + the battery than it would cost to buy a new battery for my Oregon saw. I read a few articles that indicate the EGO had great battery life, so I thought the price combined with battery expectations made sense. The battery is a disappointment. 5.0 amp hours ought to cut longer than this. My Oregon with 4 amp hours does better. Could be that the chain isn't as efficient as the chain on my Oregon. The other issue I have with the saw is the bulkiness. That battery is big. BIG. It makes the saw feel clumsy. If you're just out sawing logs in the woods or field, you probably won't mind it. But, I use the saw for girdling trees, and a nimble saw is essential. I should note that in use, the saw doesn't feel as heavy as I expected. I think the large battery actually gives it a good balance. So, again, if you're using it in the conventional way, you may find it pretty handy. ... show more

I'm a 48 yr old woman, this saw was amazing, strong and light to use. Like most saws you'll dull chain pretty quickly if cutting huge trees like i did in pics. Just make sure to check oil often to keep full. Buy extra chains. I have total of 3 and will get sharpen for next use. I have the ego push mower and Ryder mower so I have extra batteries to keep working longer. ... show more
