  • Great little labeler, makes organization easy!
Style: Machine Only
I'm an organizing fool, so once I got this into my hot little hands I started labeling EVERYTHING. The labels look nice and have a plastic coating on them, so they look like they will last. I labeled all my airtight containers in which I store dry goods like flour, sugar, dried beans, etc, and so far (a few months later), none of the labels have started peeling or giving me any trouble at all. The ink dries instantly and does not run, and I even got one label wet to test this. My only concern about this machine is that the instructions were VERY basic. I had to figure out for myself how to load the cartridges and what buttons to push, but thankfully, the machine is easy to use and figure out without the instructions. I did have some trouble until I realized that the big button on the side of the machine cuts the labels; I was trying to pull them out and cut them by hand which wastes a LOT of paper. If you use the cutter, this machine seems pretty good at conserving label paper, which is good because the label cartridges are not cheap. About the cartridges, the ones that work for this are nicely marked 'D1' so anything with that designation should work here up to 3/4 of an inch. There are lots of colors of both background and ink to choose from, and there is even clear, but I stuck with versatile black letters on white labels in two sizes. I bought half inch and quarter inch, and so far, the quarter inch has been the perfect size for me, not too small. Letters are big and easy to read and I didn't have to change from the pre-set lettering size on the machine. Dymo cartridges are not the cheapest on the market, but when you factor in the cartridge length and amount of 'wasted' label, you are saving money using these over another brand that costs less but wastes more. One quick note, though: when you print a label on this, some of the lettering of the label will not be fully dispensed from the machine. This is correct. Press the big button on the side to cut the label, and the machine will cut the label in exactly the right place with all your lettering intact. For example, I printed the label "WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR", and only "WHOLE WHEAT FL" was visible outside the machine. I cut the label as it was, and the rest of my full label slid out perfectly. ... show more

  • Excellent label Maker
Style: Machine + 3 Tapes
I have used label makers at work and decided to buy one for home usage. Well this label maker is excellent, does everything the work one does , just not as expensive. The cartridges are very reasonable in price and prints out very nice . This is one I would definitely recommend.

  • Still love it 10 months later! QWERTY all the way!
Style: Machine Only
I have been using this very frequently for over 10 months. I did some research reading reviews and even read the one reviewer who compared the cost of the label refills. I am so glad I chose the Dymo LabelMaker 160! What I love about this machine: 1 - QUALITY - Never ever had an issue printing, it has been a reliable machine 2 - Love the QWERTY keyboard. An ABC keyboard would have driven me nuts. 3 - It prints super clearly, even the off-brand refills that I bought. 4 - Battery life has been forever. In fact, I have not put new batteries in it yet (and I've printed the small roll it came with and almost a whole regular-sized refill). I'm using regular batteries. 5 - Lots of font sizes - from 8 to 24 with steps of 2 in between 6 - Two lines of text - you can print one or two lines of text, wish I could do three though 7 - Features - It has everything I need: a few borders, many special symbols, text styles (not different fonts, just styles - italic, bold), can print vertical, etc. 8 - Cutter works smoothly every time 9 - Does not waste much label when printing 10 - Nice size - It's not huge like some label makers. It's also not tiny making it difficult to type what you need. I had originally thought I wanted it even smaller but now, I'm thinking it's like the Goldilocks size, just right. Wish list: 1 - Wish I could print 3 lines and not just 2. There's enough room on the label in the smallest size but it doesn't do it. 2 - Wish it had 2-3 fonts (not a ton, but more than one would be nice) 3 - I wish the special symbols that I use most frequently would be in the first "row" of special symbols. Like I think it's crazy that I have to tab down 8 times to get to the "&" symbol. In fact, the 3-5 most frequently used symbols should be added to the keyboard. Other than that, I don't mind that special symbols are accessed through a special button. It's fairly easy and doesn't clutter the keyboard, keeping the machine a hand-held size. ... show more
