  • Overall good set of pots and pans
After being home in 2020 during COVID and cooking more frequently it made me realize how much I disliked my mismatched cookware. I was due for an upgrade but didn’t know which type of cookware I wanted. I read a bit about stainless, non-stick, and aluminum. I mainly used aluminum before but after research I decided to try stainless for the first time and chose this set of pots/pans in December 2020. I originally was looking at a cheaper Chinese stainless cookware set but got spooked based on reviews suggesting it didn’t seem to age well. I’ve been quite happy with this set of cookware. So much so I felt it deserved that I leave a review. The cookware is versatile and is very good quality. It’s dishwasher safe, but I’ve only handwashed so far as my aluminum didn’t fare well over time in the dishwasher. I love the straining lid on the saucepan - I use it all the time and it saves me from having to get out a colander so frequently. Tips: These pans hold heat well and get hotter than my aluminum pans did. I’ve had to learn to lower the temp accordingly. You will want to use wooden spoons or silicon spoons instead of metal spatulas. I’ve used wooden spoons and no scratches in the first year. If you’ve not used stainless before you’ll also need to get used to occasionally using Bar Keeper’s Friend to clean them. It seems like after you cook there is sometimes a visual residue will be left in the pan, no matter how much you scrub it with the washcloth. This comes out easily with Bar Keeper’s Friend. The instruction manual steps you through that as well. Overall great set of cookware and I am very glad I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my kitchen in this regard. ... show more

  • Great value!
Just purchased and haven’t done much cooking yet but from what I have done, this cookware is great. Bought to change out from non stick coating pans. Everything came well packed with tons of recyclable materials. I have used the large saucepan most of all as it’s a great size. Handles stay cool. I have a gas stove and kept the temp low to med. Heats quickly and evenly. I couldn’t believe how easily it cleaned up. I don’t put pots in dishwasher, mainly because I need the room. Love that they can go in the oven for casseroles that start on top of the stove but need browning. Anxious to try my sourdough bread in the casserole size. Really well made. Heavy bottoms but pans aren’t too weighty for me to lift. Haven’t used frying pans yet but will follow instructions for seasoning prior to using them. Great value and great quality. ... show more

  • I'm so glad I bought them
A month later, and I'm still pleased with this set of cookware. I'm glad I disregarded the negative reviews. Yes, after I started to use them, they started to look used. I hate handwashing, so these often find their way into the dishwasher, which will eventually dull their mirror finish. But they're still sharp enough that I'm shopping for a hanging rack to get them out of the cabinets. Yes, I still prepare low-heat, delicate foods (eggs, pancakes) in my old non-stick skillet because I know stainless will stick with that usage. I recently did a high-heat sear on a pork chop. When I went to flip it, it was stuck. So I waited a bit longer for it to release and was rewarded with a beautiful sear. This is a lot of cookware for a reasonable price. During unboxing, I did think that the walls of the pans looked very thin. Now I realize that it's just that the edges are not rolled, but slightly folded. I've now grown accustomed to this appearance, and realize the pieces are solid and heavy. I don't like how hot the handles get - all of them: pots, pans, and lids - but I specifically shopped for oven-safe items and the old nylon and newer silicone just can't take the heat. I deducted a star in my rating because during simple stovetop covered simmering, it seems that a pot lid should be able to be touched without a burn risk. I expect this set to last years, maybe decades. Edit: I was looking forward to using the handy measurement lines inside the pots. It wasn't until I received them that I saw that they are metric. I know there's only like 3 countries that don't use the metric system, but, I live in one of them, and I won't be able to use those lines unless I Google, which I don't anticipate. ... show more

  • cooks evenly and cleans beautifully
This is the nicest set of cookware: excellent heat distribution, excellent sear on meats, nice weight. I soak the pans immediately after use with some dish soap and use barkeeper's friend powder for the final clean to keep them spotless and looking new. I only use nonscratch scrubbies. I tried the dishwasher with poor results, so hand only for me. I, also find they are almost nonstick if you use oil and heat the pan first to the desired temp before adding food. Really slides out with minimal residue, as long as the pan was scrupulously clean to start with. I also recommend against high heat, as that will discolor the metal permanently and the heat conduction is so good, high heat is probably not needed even for searing. So a little more attention to cleaning for great cooking results. I will never buy another nonstick pan again. ... show more

  • Perfect pots and pans for an induction cooktop or hob.
I purchased an induction hob for my kitchen. I have some pans that work fine with it, but I needed some more varied sizes, etc. I thought these were very reasonably priced. I have used them with some pretty sticky stuff, and they have cleaned up beautifully. I genuinely like to cook, and the pans I regularly use do tend to show wear and tear. I expect these will too, but I don't mind that. What I really like about them is how they are weighted and how the bottom is completely flat, which works very well on an induction cooktop. I DO NOT season my stainless steel pans. These will never see the inside of the dishwasher, either. Some might find that appalling, but I would rather hand wash them, and I have found that seasoning can cause a sticky layer that makes them more prone to sticking. (I suppose I may be doing it wrong.) I have heard from some of my favorite YouTubers and read in the manufacturer's materials that Barkeepers Friend is good to keep around to clean your stainless if you are concerned about discoloration, staining, etc. I also never ever cook on high unless I am using a frying pan. Generally, I cook at level 6 or so unless I am trying to get to a rolling boil. ... show more
