Description

Duravent's DuraPlus Basic Through the Wall Kit includes a wall thimble, one 9 inch x 6 inch horizontal chimney pipe, 1 tee with clean-out cap, 1 tee support, 2 wall straps and 1 chimney cap. This 6" all-in-one kit saves time and guesswork and supports up to 40 feet of DuraPlus chimney pipe (not included), a triple-wall, all fuel chimney for use with wood stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, boilers, stoves, ranges, water heaters, or other appliances fueled by wood, oil, coal, or gas. The DuraPlus chimney is designed to stay cool on the outside and provide a hot draft on the inside, while boosting stove efficiency. The triple-wall chimney features two insulating layers: ceramic blanket and air space. The ceramic blanket insulation is held securely in position, eliminating hot spots common with loose-fill type insulations. In the event of a creosote fire, the compressible blanket insulation permits the chimney liner to expand outward in a radial direction, providing a fire-safe design.

  • Great product - works great
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
As expected and works great! Instructions aren’t the best for DIY folks but a few YouTube videos and it was easy.

  • So good I bought a second one!!!
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
This is the second Duravent through the wall kit I have bought and installed. If you have what I'd consider an intermediate skill set in DIY and some basic tools, this is easily installed. This kit is so much cheaper to install than a masonary chimney and alot less work. This chimney is laboratory tested to be safe if installed correctly. This was shipped directly from Northern Tool.....without the exorbitant shipping price. A+ quality and construction. ... show more

  • Great chimney!! Not easy to do by one person
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
It goes together just like it is supposed to. But you really need 2 people to mount the support outside. It is darn near impossible by yourself. Because I was alone, just getting to outdoor support aligned, level and plumb and attaching it took me 13 tries. And about 3 hours. With an extra pair of hands, it would have gone up in 15 minutes. The kit only comes with a 9” section for the thimble. I can’t think of any wall made that will be that thin and still clear the roof eaves. But the 12” section and all will go well. ... show more

  • Deffinatley worth it
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
Came a little dented but nothing too bad just very small dent and nothing that wouldnt make it work as advertised.i ran mine through a window though, cut a piece of plywood to put in the window and ran it through that way.i would suggest using a 36" triple wall class a pipe to run through the wall so that you can get the central piece far enough away from the house to prevent you from having to cut a hole in the eve.thats what i did and i still have excellent draft, no issues.i would also suggest not doing this project by yourself although really hard it can be done.i dont have anyone around to help me but if i had to do it over again i would have tried alot harder to find someone.you might want to buy alot of high temp red rtv silicone for this job as well ... show more

  • Great product and DuraVent support responded to a user error question within 5 minutes!!!
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
This through wall kit was exactly what I needed to go through my garage wall to the outside and attached flawlessly to the outside wall. I also purchased DuraVent DuraPlus double walled pipe which is beautiful. I recommend wearing gloves when putting the chimney together as the stainless steel is quite sharp! I would recommend this product and also recommend watching the helpful installation videos online. ... show more

  • Installation directions need to be clearer
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
I like this product. I do, but installation is a little complicated. Unless you have some prior knowledge on vent and ductwork, you may have trouble with some of the connections. Also, the kit comes with pretty much all you need, if, you want to cut on your roof. I, however did not want to cut on my roof, so I had to order an extension, which of course, does not come with the kit. I believe an option should be given when you order the kit as to whether or not you want the extension. And then we get to pricing, Geeez, has sheet metal value increased by that much!!! Wow... I mean I know companies got to survive in this economy and I don't mind paying a "reasonable" price... but darn, the little people have to survive too. ... show more

  • Decent kit, worked, but could be better!
Style Name: Through Wall Kit
Pros: 1.) Makes installation safe and straightforward when all instructions are followed. 2.) High quality construction Cons: 1.) Expensive... could be a result of COVID scarcity pricing" and as many people are trying to buy house upgrades that are "off grid" 2.) This kit comes with a 9" Class A galvanized pipe for the Thimble / wall penetration. Our wall is older and was at least 10" thick, this required me to purchase a 12" Class A Duravent pipe which cost about $87 and a week of having a 14" hole in my living room wall. 3.) The instructions need to be revised. They need to spend the time on creating an instruction manual for each installation style instead of cramming it all into 1 confusing manual. (through the wall, through the roof, cathedral ceiling install etc) 4.) You will need to buy some fairly expensive lag screws and exterior screws. All in all, I ended up spending around $120 and a trip to Lowes on top of the price of the kit itself. This should be CLEARLY stated on the front page of the manual, "Parts you need to buy not included:" instead of briefly mentioned halfway through the manual. 5.) The cleanout tray cover is useless. I cut and bent metal tabs to keep it in place, any gust of wind makes it fall out, and even with the ugly bent tabs it is now missing because the wind blew it away. Overall the kit worked, but it needs some work. I think my main gripe was the instructions, they NEED to be clear because people installing this themselves are not going to be knowledgeable like I am about wood stoves, which could be a big safety hazard!! ... show more
