  • Pretty decent head-unit, but the microphone makes phone calls almost impossible
Size: 6.9 Inch
I've been pretty happy with the head-unit, overall. The touchscreen is responsive and fairly precise. Core functions are pretty standard and easily accessible. Big, meaty icons, to make the interface easy while driving. Installation was a breeze with the right kit, and it fits almost perfectly in my 2013 Prius C. At first glance, people think it shipped with the car. I'm using Android Auto with it. Literally plug-and-play. That is, connect the phone with a USB-C to USB-A cable, and Android Auto just pops up and works. No additional software to install, no special toggles on the phone or the head-unit. It's smooth and simple and works perfectly. My only genuine beefs are the audio and the microphone. Music playback sounds a little thin and synthetic, even with Loudness toggled on and bass frequencies boosted (despite the fact that it features a 16-band EQ). Of course, the quality of the speakers in the car has to be considered, and they're Toyota's stock units. But the stock stereo sounded much chunkier than this one. It's fine, mind you. It's totally listenable. Just a little thin. The microphone is just bad. I haven't found a solution to using the Prius' cabin mic with this head-unit, so I'm limited to the mic in the unit. And it's bad. Listeners report my sounding robotic, distant, unintelligible... Sounds like it's got a really aggressive noise gate to fight traffic and other driving noise, but it's so aggressive that it cuts out vocalizations that aren't firm and loud, themselves. I've had friends tell me to hang up and call me with my cell, or just call them when I get home. If you're buying this, I'd recommend researching solutions for connecting your car's mic to this unit. Overall, I'd recommend it—just with the massive caveat that the mic is hopelessly bad. ... show more

  • It's a very nice unit but the sound leaves something to be desired.
Size: 6.9 Inch
The media could not be loaded. I put in a brief video that shows the fitment of the unit but what I didn't mention was that it was very easy to wire the steering wheel controls. For my application I twisted the two wires on the unit together with the one existing wire in the factory harness. After that I would press a steering wheel button and tell the unit what I wanted that button to do. I have a 2000 Honda Accord and there's only 3 buttons for volume up/down and a 3rd button that either changes to the next radio station or changes tracks when I have a SD card playing. It takes a while to get the sound you want and the Mosfet transistors mated to the decoder gives you a lot of detail in the sound. Almost too much detail and less warmth but that's the nature of the chip that's used. UPDATE: I've spent a few months with the unit and after changing the front speakers I have been able to get more of the sound I was after with the help of the equalizer. There is one problem that is frustrating though! On hot days I have gotten in the car, turned the key and was greeted with an ear splitting hiss, the radio had lost all memory and had to be reset. Not the end of the world but the custom EQ settings and steering wheel controls need to be set again along with the date and time. Being as I live in Pennsylvania and always leave windows cracked for air to escape I have to wonder how often it would happen if I lived in the deep south. Like I said, not the end of the world but be aware of the possibility. Now that the temps are nearing the freezing mark, the unit is going blank and needs to be reset. I'm not a electrical engineer but it seems like the unit is starving for power during startup. I'm not going to recommend this unit any longer and that's a shame for all of its features. ... show more

  • Not a great user experience.
Size: 6.9 Inch
First off the customer service is nice and quick to resolve issues, BUT the head unit itself is not great. It lacks a LOT of what I would of thought as standard features. PROS: Easy to install if you have all of the correct harnesses and adapters. (More about this later) It's a decently quick unit and fits nicely in a standard double din kit Has the ability to include steering wheel controls (again more on this later) Can cast from your phone but if you have an android there is an additional step (again more on this in cons) It can do a lot of things if you bypass multiple "safety features" (for example bypassing the emergency brake loop to be able to view A/V source) CONS You'll need several adapters that are not included and some aren't even listed as needed. Pay close attention to the notes in this website description. (You'll most likely need a steering wheel control adapter. If you want to be able to mirror your android device, you'll also need a wireless a/v receiver with RCA input connectors) Also note that if you're wanting to use that A/V adapter you will have to bypass or cut the parking break sensor and do note that it is illegal in most states to watch a movie or something on this head unit if it installed in the line of sight of the driver. Unless you're really good at mixing sounds, the audio output is not great with the basic quick settings, you will have to fidget and adjust the audio levels individually and that is annoying. In addition to that, the sound levels are not across the board for all sources so playing the radio is much louder than using bluetooth or aux. It is also super annoying that you can't turn the music down really low like background music. It's like it is either off/muted or loud. Even level 1 volume is not a quiet transition, it is certainly ON. Then volume level between 1 and 25 is not a big enough variance to be helpful in my opinion. It seems like the thing only has two options ON AND LOUD (to some extent, not really that loud at the highest level even compared to the stock radio) and OFF. Screen brightness: The screen brightness is similar to the volume options and it doesn't adjust when you have headlights on versus during the day so it is always bright and can be pretty distracting at night. Like the volume the adjustment levels leave a lot to be desired. You CAN'T turn it off but even the lowest brightness is still really bright at night, and the brightest level is not that much brighter than the lowest. The last annoying thing to me is the volume buttons, I had to get one without a knob so that it fit in my dash kit because mine sets in a good ways so I would have had to modify the ring around it to make room for a knob, so I got this one with the buttons. The buttons are tiny and have a big amount of lag to them so when you finally get the volume to go up, it's going all the way up at once if you're holding the button. If you're pressing them one at a time, it takes forever to adjust volume up or down. Lastly, the back up camera in mine was intermittently working. Sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't. When it worked it was clear and nice but it was not reliable. Ultimately I returned this system. It just got to be too much work around and the light and volume annoyed me too much. ... show more
