The head unit works great. I installed it in my 2016 f 350 work truck. The Apple CarPlay feature works great and the sensitivity and screen clarity are both on point. The front and back cameras are both a great addition. The sound was very crisp out of the standard grade speakers in my truck. Very surprising for the price point. For my vehicle it was definitely necessary to buy the vehicle specific wire harness and antenna adapter. I also bought the dash kit through Scosche although the mounting brackets off of the old unit could probably be installed on the new one and mounted fine. The new SJoy unit comes with a detachable frame that would probably work. So it's a possibility that you can get away with not purchasing the $30 dash kit. The wiring harness wires have to be connected individually (about 14 wires) either directly from the existing vehicle harness (old plug cut off and wires connected to SJoy unit) or the vehicle specific harness (purchased separately.) The camera wires have to be spliced into your reverse hot and ground wires in order for the cam to automatically turn on when put in reverse. It's not difficult, but will have to be done right or problems could occur. Overall the installation was simple with the help of your tube, but if you're not handy it's probably going to be easier to pay someone to install it. One guy in the reviews paid over $500 for his install so make sure you get a labor quote BEFORE the work is done. Very happy with the purchase so far and would definitely recommend. ... show more

    • CarPlay stopped working 6 weeks after install
It worked great for the first 5 weeks. I finished the install 4 weeks ago. It was perfect. Three days ago CarPlay wouldn’t connect. Two days ago there radio had no saved stations. Yesterday the display was black. All’s just days after the return window closed one week ago. Update: After trying some things from google and ripping the dash apart to check connections, I reached out to the seller to see if there was a firmware update. They gave me instructions to reset the unit. The next day I went to do just that but plugged in the phone to the USB. It frigging worked. I could see that the time was off and all of my radio stations were gone again. I went through and reprogrammed both the SWC and radio stations again. We’ll see if it holds up. ... show more

So everything works on it.... BUT the Bluetooth I only connect to it about 1 out of every 10 times I get in my truck!!! Good enough for my work truck.

They put just about everything on this unit. I really couldn't believe how much this stereo was offering for the price. I just installed it today and I knew it was nice very quickly. My original plan was to wait a few days to install the backup camera but I got a real charge from the system so I did the camera immediately. I was attracted mostly to the Android Auto, Apple Carplay, backup camera, 16 band EQ, steering wheel control, and the built-in mic. A lot of stereos have a clunky clip mic on a wire but the mic is on the top corner closest to the driver and picks you up quite well. My mom and Dad said the call quality was good. Touchscreen works as well as you need it to; nice and responsive. The EQ really lets you get the best possible sound. 16 bands is "above and beyond" but I made use of it all. Steering wheel control was easy to hookup with three wires once you lookup what wires on your factory harness(es) are used for that function. It learned the buttons on the first try. The backup camera actually turns on when you put the car in reverse! My wife has a Sony that still requires tapping on the screen to switch over to the camera but this is all done for you along with a small reduction in volume to help you concentrate. The volume returns after you switch out of reverse. The sound is better than the factory pioneer head unit my Scion had in it and has shown me that the factory pioneer speakers can actually sound good with a better stereo. I recommend this highly if the features are important to you or especially if you have a slightly older vehicle you want to modernize.     • Best bang for the buck on Amazon!
(Not Paula, but her husband) I installed this head unit in my Hooptie 03 Mercury Mountaineer that I will never get rid of. After 19 years of a stock radio, it was finally time to modernize. Amazon stated that this unit would not fit, but if you buy the Schosche ICFD5BN install kit, it will. I haven't installed a head unit in a car in over 30 years but if you follow the directions from SJOYBRING and Schosche, you will be fine. Don't secure the ground (black) our constant power (yellow), will explain. I suggest getting a universal car rear view mount for the back-up camera. If installing in a SUV, you may need extra wire to reach the reverse light to activate the camera. When installing the front camera, you will need to have access to the ground and constant power for install. Now you can close out all wiring and install. The power is stronger then the OEM unit and sounds quite well with the factory speakers. The Bluetooth and android audio took a few minutes to sink up, now works awesome. The bottom touchscreen buttons are a bit small, but work. The only issue I have, not big, coming out of reverse, it's slow going back to the main screen and cycles through the front camera first. For the price point, you can't go wrong, it was a huge upgrade from stock! Only took 3 hours to install. To get an update and of custom boot screen, just contact they in Facebook. Be ready to have a screenshot of you purchase, a 32 meg thumb drive and a computer to unzip the file. There is a video for the "how to". Also, the reset button is located between the USB and AUX input (different that what shows in the video). Customer service was Awesome and thy were very timley with responses. ... show more

I didn't have time to install it so I had my local mechanic put it in for me. I don't know what he did, But my bill was $550...!!! Holy crap. I looked at the instructions, and they were very easy to understand, and wires matched what was in the diagram. I will say that he sealed the connections wery well. But FIVE FITTY? I took the lumps on that. The screen is brilliant and clear, and I have more volume than I did with my original Ford radio. Still figuring out the menues, but so far pretty good. ... show more
