I was skeptical about buying this because of how cheap it was. Turned out to be great so The steering wheel remote that comes with it has really weak signal so it’s useless for me. I haven’t installed the backup camera because I have a dashcam/ rear recorder so no opinion on that I will post an update in a week or if I get any issues beforehand. -UPDATE- If you turn on the accessories in your vehicle and plug your phone in and turn the vehicle on, it will not link your Apple CarPlay. I've had this installed in my car for 2 months now. Installation: The unit didn't come with any bracket screws. I had to find some and make them work. And yes, it DOES NOT FIT typical double din adaptors. I didn't even bother trying to dremel away the faceplate portion, I just left a small 1/4 inch gap all around the unit. Looks fine however. I was able to install the unit myself in about 45 mins. Backup camera: Works well, not high definition or as good as OEM cameras but it does the trick. I had someone else do the wiring for this. I appreciate that if you back up your car the music reduces to about 25% - just like my other cars. Audio Quality: I was afraid my old speakers were going out on my original 2008 Rav4 stereo system (non JBL) but turns out it was the original receiver itself crapping out. Once I turned this on, it was plenty loud. The speakers I have aren't great at all, but with some adjustment with the equalizer I could get a sound I was reasonably happy with. Carplay: Yes it works. The resolution doesn't look the sharpest, and there is almost some "bleeding" of colors around small text. I don't use carplay myself but I tested it and it works. Don't know about Android Auto, we don't own one. MP3 playability: This is what I bought the unit for. I use a USB key plugged in all the time. The file explorer will automatically explode embedded file folders. What that means is, if I had artists in the main folder, and each artist had multiple albums in multiple subfolders, those subfolders would just display in the main folder viewing area. Not a biggy, just need to scroll more to find the artists you have organized your directories in. My main qualm is that between songs, there is a 2 second mute, you always miss the first 2 seconds of a song even if its queued to play next. Haven't tried the microsd slot but that's how it goes. The music will continue from when you last played. Bluetooth connectivity audio - Works great. Was confusing first how to connect but after connecting always connects. Bluetooth phone capability - audio is fine, but microphone is terrible (built in) - I haven't bothered to install the secondary external mic since I already installed everything. I may one day try it out and wire it up to my sun visor or something. Screen quality: I think it's might bright enough for my car, there is no option to dim the screen while driving (like at night). Even if you try to reduce brightness in the embedded settings it doesn't get dark enough. I use the stock background dark blue (there aren't any other options anyways) and it doesn't seem to be too bright at night. The viewing angle at least on my model is completely sufficient, and my polarized sunglasses don't cut out the image. Buttons: The volume wheel works fine for me. If you push it, it mutes the audio. I wish it would simply pause the music instead but that's fine, the touch screen is responsive enough without considerable delay. All in all I've been impressed, I purchased the unit for $35 during prime days, and for that price I'm very happy. I just wish there wasn't that 2 second delay between songs and the internal mic was better, that would have granted 5 stars. ... show more

Worked ok with the iphone 14 pro, got the new 16pro and it does not get recognized by the head unit. Cant find any help on a possible firmware update. other issues were the creen going to the clock intermittently while driving and using navigation, only way to get back to the nav screen was to unplug the phone and plug it back in. after 6 months it would no longer do screen mirroring( i believe it stopped after an ios update. ... show more

Someone recommended this in a car forum and said it was great for the price, and a lot of the reviews here say the same so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to pay a little bit to try it out. It is not great for the price, it’s crap for a good price. AirPlay doesn’t work because it doesn’t give a WiFi signal, Bluetooth audio quality is abysmal. This is worse than any stock head unit I’ve ever heard. Please, do not buy this product thinking you’re getting a deal, you are getting exactly what you pay for. ... show more

And saving money. $40 for 7" DD with Carplay and Android Auto. Fuggetaboutit. Installed in no time. Started right up and quickly connected to both AA and CP no problem. Very user friendly interface otherwise. Best $40 I ever spent on car audio. Only issue was I had to Dremel some of the OEM kit for it to fit flush and snug. Seems a little taller than a typical double din. Didn't need an aftermarket kit. No big deal. Installed in a beater '04 Ford Escape as a thank you to a friend for loaning me his car for a family vacation (and to make road trips way more fun since the factory deck was trash. The volume knob was erratic and unfixable). Super easy install except having to Dremel. Didn't have time to install the rear camera or steering wheel controls. Other than that, I may get one of these and install in my wife's '01 CR-V, too. Screen is plenty bright, and the touchscreen works well. It's very snappy and responsive. I honestly think it's better than the factory stereo in my 2018 Honda Fit Sport with AA and CP except for the brightness and resolution, but for $40 I think it's a better UI which is not saying much for Honda. It was between this one and one with volume buttons. I chose the knobs because it was $12 cheaper and a volume knob is way better than buttons. It has an internal mic, but I wired up the external as well, mounted it on the steering column upper trim and made a test call. Sounded good on both ends. Huge upgrade for a beater car. Oh yeah, and Pandora started right up. Max volume is 33, but that is plenty loud for a 20 year old factory speakers. I think it sounds great. The equalizer is good, too, and it has a loudness feature for bass, and it's easy to change the color of the display buttons in settings. I'm pretty sure it has the pre-outs for a sub as well. Honestly for the price, the kit you get here is pretty hard to beat. If you're looking to upgrade a beater and bring it up to speed from a horrible old factory stereo, and you don't care about name brands, this is a solid option. Everyone who may have problems with CP and AA on this deck should probably make sure their phone is open and not on the lock screen. That will solve a lot of problems. I just installed it so hoping it lasts a long time. One of the pics shows where I placed the external mic. It comes with a foam mic cover, but I took it off, because it's kinda big.
