Description

In the Don’t Break the Ice Mammoth Edition game, kids can imagine helping Harriet the Mammoth scoop snow cones for her shop! First, players choose from 2 ways to play: classic gameplay or a more challenging variation using the colored blocks and die. In both versions, kids take turns carefully selecting and tapping out a block of “ice” in the ice tray using a plastic mallet. If Harriet falls through the ice—aw, fish sticks! (But don’t worry. She’s a very talented swimmer.) That player is out of the game. The last player left who doesn’t let Harriet fall wins! In the second way to play, the object of the game is the same, but kids roll the colored die and tap on that colored ice block. This fun preschool game for boys, girls, and kids ages 3 and up is a lively indoor game for family time. And it makes an excellent gift for kids who love classic board games and toys. Our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter loves to play this with us! She has learned what it means to take turns and she can actually think about what moves to make and what ones not to make. Good for problem solving. Adult needs to help set it back up but it's a cute game for kids.

This game is fun and easy to understand. I have a 4 and 5 year old. Only downside is loading the blocks back up for another game. I even struggled to get all the blocks back in for another round! It says you *may* need to squeeze the last few in but you have to squeeze at least one in for each row then the last 4-5 blocks and it is not easy! Haha so gameplay length varies but it is decent timing as my kiddos figure it out but I am having to reload these blocks every 10-15 minutes between games and the reloading of the blocks takes me about 10 minutes each time as my kiddos watch impatiently excited to play again 😂 great game, great concept, and I understand the squeezing of the blocks is what makes the game last longer and be more engaging but my oh my is it tedious. ... show more

This game is a classic that never loses its appeal. This was a Christmas gift for a 4.5-year-old boy. After playing a few rounds, he started to grasp the concept of taking out certain cubes to be on the winning end of the game. Pounding on things is a favorite of young kids, but this game also makes them think about projecting an outcome and problem solving at a young age.
