I was skeptical about how much this water bowl would help with cutting down on the amount of drool/excess water on my floor after my dog took a drink. It was legitimately a slipping hazard within 5ft of her bowl. Once we started using the regulated water bowl, I only had to wipe up a dribble here and there. I certainly wasn't worried about slipping after she drank! I am truly amazed at how much of a difference this has made. The construction is solid. The key piece is a floating regulator that only allows the dog to drink small amounts in each 'lap' so they don't take a whole mouthful of water and let it dribble out of their mouth as they go on their merry way. They get all the water they need but it makes them take a little more time. There is a plastic 'stopper' that snaps into place over the floating regulator and it could over time not function as well or break, but we have had this product a month or more and it still works great. Not just for dogs! I use this bowl for my rabbit because water bottles don’t properly hydrate rabbits and he kept dunking his head in traditional water bowls. He is 4 pounds and is able to drink out of this but if the water level gets too low, he does have a harder time reaching the water. Not usually a problem since I fill it up everyday and the bowl holds about 4 cups of water. The bowl is easy to take apart and clean but doesn’t need to take apart to fill up. I’ve been using it for a few months now and love it! Also, I found the floater is almost impossible to take apart with my finger tips but was easy enough to pry open with a flat head screwdriver in the center part with the paw print. I decided to not put the bottom part back on to make it easier for cleaning. The top blue part still floats by itself and allows a little more water to sit on top, making it easier for my pet. The top part would probably would be too lightweight by itself for a big pet but works great for my rabbit! ... show more

The bowl reduces "water on the floor" by 90%! No, it's not quite perfect; but it is pretty darn close. Our male English Cocker Spaniel used to gulp down water, and then the extra water would flow out of his mouth and onto the floor. If it wasn't wiped up right away, he would walk on it and leave a bigger mess on the floor. We do get some water still. But, it used to take at least one paper towel per drink to wipe the floor. Now we use part of one paper towel per drink; and the paper towel lasts all day! It's amazing! ... show more

This bowl changed my dog’s gulping habits completely. It comes completely apart for cleaning and works very well to prevent chugging. I have a 60lb pit bull. My only complaint is that the flotation component isn’t sealed so water can get trapped inside and grow a bacterial slime mess. To remedy this, I just don’t connect that floatation component completely so it’s easier to clean. *you can find this type of bowl in an elevated feeder too from a different brand* ... show more

My son’s dog is the worst water splasher! It’s like she never learned how to properly drink water (or do anything else for that matter). His floor is no longer a mess when I come over! Our nearly one year old rough Collie loves to play with water. When we discovered this bowl, we thought our flooded kitchen floor would be a thing of the past. All was well for two and a half weeks. Today our water loving dog discovered that he can suppress the floater with his paw. At first he did it gently. Then he started to really hit it and water went all over. To make matters worse, as he was really getting into the game, he realized that he could also pick up the bowl and spill all of the water. If you have a curious and playful pup like ours who figures out how to "get" to the water, this may not help to address the problem. Also, as I was mopping up the water and examined the bowl, I realized that there was water that had managed to get into the floating disk, which consists of two elements. I had to use a knife to pry the two halves apart to drain the water that had gotten into the disk. Longterm, I would be concerned about bacteria growing in the disk unless it were regularly pried apart and cleaned. We are going back to our regular bowl which is easier to clean. ... show more
