We had our 6 month old Cavapoo spayed last week, and not surprisingly, she hated the cone of shame. It made it hard for her to eat and maneuver. Our vet had recommended getting a body suit for her, so we ordered this one from Amazon. The material is nice and soft, like a T-shirt, and there is a little extra padding on the belly over where her incision is. It has a little bit of stretch to the material, but not so much that it gets stretched out. The leg holes and the neck hole have extra material sewn around the holes, and it is soft and hasn't rubbed or caused any irritation in those areas. The snaps on the back of it work well. Best of all though, is that she can go outside and pee and poop without having to take it off. With some of the other bodysuits we looked at, you had to roll up the back of it when you let your dog out. You have to do absolutely nothing with this bodysuit. Just let your dog go out as usual. She has been wearing it for 4 days and I have seen no staining from her going potty. I let it air dry, so can't speak to if it shrinks in the dryer, but it washes well. The medium fit my 12 lb Cavapoo well. It wasn't too tight, and fit her well length-wise. She didn't like it at first, and rolled around on the ground trying to get it off, but after that she hasn't even seemed to notice that she has it on. She kept trying to lick her incision when we took the cone of shame off to feed her, but this suit completely covers her incision so she has not been able to get to it. And it is really cute too. These were absolutely perfect for my girls. I ordered an xs for my 5lb yorkie and a s for my 8lb Pomeranian. These work great for their spay. They fit great and they can still use the restroom. Super cute and comfy!

    • Good suit for post surgery protection

This was purchased for our small, female dog (12 lbs) following surgery that resulted in 2 long incisions: along the rib cage and lower torso). The small size fit ok. It was a bit snug (It did not shrink when washed). I liked the design for the back end. It did allow for most urinating and defecating to happen without incident, although there were a few times when the elastic edging was soiled. To prevent this, we simply left the hind legs out of the garment when our dog was going to the bathroom (and we also ordered a second one to have while the other was being washed). The snaps worked well and are probably the best option. Fur can get caught by velcro or a zipper. The fabric is thin, but I found that as beneficial in warmer weather. I felt it also allowed the. wound to breath a bit. My dog does not like any garments and so it helped to prevent hind leg scratching of her sutures. If she did scratch, at least her nails would not catch on the sutures. My only other complaint is that there was not a better pattern option (dots or flowers).     • Lifesaver for Puppy Spay Recovery!

I have a VERY active 6 month old Jack Russell Terrier who was spayed recently. She came home from the vet with the “Cone of Shame” and had a difficult time eating, walking through the grass, and most importantly resting/sleeping. I knew right away that 2 weeks of this was going to be a nightmare. I found this recovery outfit and thought I would give it a try. I can’t rave enough about this product!!! It was made very well (100% polyester, and sturdy plastic snaps down the back). It was sooo cute on her! She did not bother her incision one bit and I liked that it covered her tummy and kept that area clean. She was able to do her business without removing the outfit so I kept it on her 24/7. We live down south and because it was lightweight, she was not hot. What I liked most about this product was that it kept her calm like a thunder shirt would. The reason I know this is because when I took it off to wash, she was doing everything she shouldn’t have (running, jumping). For this reason, I ordered more to use in the future for everyday use. I ordered a small. She’s 9.5lbs. A piece of advice, if it’s not snug and a little long, it will get wet underneath when your dog urinates. Her recovery went smoothly with no issues.     • Works for recovery but a big problem on long hair
Size: Medium Color: black white stripe
This garment worked well for keeping my dog from licking her wound after spaying. However, she’s a long hair Havanese mix, and when the garment came off, her hair is terribly matted. It’s so matted that I’m probably going have to have her shaved down.
