We have a rescue dog that seems to have a lot of ear wax build up. We took him to a vet and got some solution to clean his ears. It worked well, but was expensive. That was about a year ago. Now his ears are building up wax again and I decided to look for non-prescription ear cleaners. I chose this one because the price was good. But I wasn't sure how effective it would be. When it arrived it was nicely shrink wrapped, which was good because I think a little of the liquid leaked inside the shrink wrap. When I opened the wrap the bottle was a little sticky. But not a big deal. Now, on to the important stuff: how good is it? After using it for a few days I'm not totally sure. I think it does help some, but it's not as good as the prescription cleaner we got from the vet. The opening of the bottle is bigger than I expected. I took a picture to try and show it, but it's hard to see clearly. When you pour the liquid into the dog's ear it flows out easily and quite a lot comes out. I don't know if this is good or bad. It's good in that it gets the liquid in the ear easily. It's bad in that there might be too much poured out in one sitting. But it does help and so I'd recommend trying it out. Note that you would need some cotton or wipes or swabs to clean up afterwords. But that's to be expected. ... show more

    • Easy to use and works
This was very easy to use and helped loosen the dirt/wax in my dogs ears so that I could clean them. It doesn’t have a strong smell which I’m happy about. I’ll be using it once a week as a maintenance to keep my dogs ears clean and healthy.

I wasn't sure if this would smell bad, as it has turpentine in it. But I'm happy to report it smells like nothing. Like, actually zero smell. I used it on my pup's ears and she didn't seem to mind. Didn't act like it burned or anything. I'm happy to have this on hand when she starts scratching.

    • An effective all purpose ear cleaner
This product is an effective ear flush for dogs and cats. It works well to flush out ear “dirt” and wax and is non irritating. I was slightly dubious of some of the ingredients initially such as the oil of wintergreen as a mite repellent but they are at the least non irritating. One of my senior cats (16 years old) has some long standing issues with yeast infections in his outer ear and I ordered this as a general flush. When I received it his ear was filled with wax and very red, this did an excellent job soothing the ear so that he didn’t further irritate it by scratching. This is not a replacement for a proper vet visit and medication but it works great as a flush and as a preventative. If you need a good general purpose ear wash this is a great choice. My cat tolerated this ear cleaner well and I loved it simply because a) the cat liked it and b) there was no smell and no lingering smell. I had another ear cleaner that left a distinct smell (floral) for hours which was not cool on a cat. This ear cleaner therefore seems less obtrusive to my cat's life.
