I have a large Australian shepherd who had an encounter with a skunk . Skunk did not survive. I bought clippers to remove some of his thick coat after other attempts failed to remove the odor. I got these because taking your dog to a groomer is super expensive now. This device make me do all the work but it is worth it in order to save money. The device has 5 speeds and you can adjust the clipper length for fine tuning. I like that it comes with different sized clippers as well. The battery last a good amount of time as well. I was in need of some cordless clippers because if you've tried to do any sort of trimming on your person, having a cord in the way is incredibly annoying. This unit came up and I ignored the "dog" part because, like, why? Why are these for dogs and not for anything else? Short answer, they're for whatever, and in fact they're way better than my old WAHL unit. The WAHL is fine for what it is, and at first I thought these clippers were going to be too narrow, but as anyone can see from the pics, the WAHL clippers are bulkier, but with the same blade width. They work just as well as the WAHLs and being able to detach and clean the blade is pretty fantastic. Unfortunately, cleaning them, the foam piece under the blade to catch little bits of hair is a real pain to clean, and you're not going to get rid of all the hair. It's a minor thing, but something to note. The different speeds and the digital display really make it feel modern and sleek, as well as being very light, lighter than the WAHL, makes these clippers a perfect replacement for the corded clippers, and the battery life (so far), has been great. I haven't had to charge them once, though I've only used them maybe 4 times. Note with the blade removal: lift up on the blade itself to detach, and when you reattach, be sure that the blades seat flush with the bottom of the clipper blade housing. In the last pic, you'll see a gap, that gap is not what you want. It needs to be flush. Not something that's in the manual, so mentioning it here. ... show more

Good for trimming down fur around the paw pads. I hated using the scissors due to safety reasons, because one of my dog's is jumpy. The clippers being cordless is very helpful and in general they're just easier to use. The sound is a little loud, but not as loud as regular people hair trimmers. My dogs did have to get used to the sound at first, but they've come around (could have been the coaxing with peanut butter). The quality of the trimmer is nice. I only have people trimmers to compare it with, so in comparison to that- this one is a lot better. It's not as loud, it's cordless, and it cuts better. Oh, I love the safety lock feature! I knew these were too good to be true. These are horrible!!! Where to begin...the power button is sensitive and turns off constantly resetting where u had it set, the guards clog up and u have to pull hair out of them constantly.
