  • Very flexible design. Sturdy construction
I am a causual rider but like to take an occasional longer trip (30 to 40 miles). I installed this with the hex wrench supplied with the kit in about 40 minutes, so no additional tools or adjustments were needed. Instructions were included and worked well with a little mechanical thought applied. As you can see, there is a lot of flexibility and various adjustments offered, so I initially had this slid all the way back to allow for a small bag that I have under my seat. But the rack will probably be even more stable as I move it closer to the seat post (which I will likely do). This is very easy to adjust once you get all of the pieces in place and the initial install completed. I will also plan to put a little super glue under the rubber spacers that were supplied to go with each quick attachment mount so that they don't fall out if I want to use that feature. The unit appears to be pretty sturdy, but at the time of this writing, I have not tried it out yet. Four stars for installation ONLY because it is SO flexible and that there are many adjustments to consider making when first applying to your bike. . . but that's also a good thing. I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it. ... show more

  • It's nearly perfect as long as you are not thick
This rack is fantastic. I'm not sure how others are complaining about it being unstable or loose. perhaps they have not tightened down all the bolts? Mine is ROCK SOLID. It is just as sturdy as a traditional rack mounted to frame mounting points. Yes, its made of cheap aluminum and probably will not stand up to a lot of flexing, which is more the reason to make sure its tight and not moving at all. I have no doubt this will hold the rated weight. None of my bikes have integrated mounting points and this is a far better solution that using rubber coated clamps with a traditional rack. However, the quick-releases seem like a good idea but in practice they are not really helpful. You still need an allen wrench to tighten everything up properly and the added bulk and weight of the QR's are really not worth it. In some cases they can actually interfere with panniers and/or interfere with your heel as you pedal or you inner thighs if you have big legs. Honestly if you are overweight these are a no-go because the seatpost quick release is so bulky and poorly designed that it has sharp edges that will gouge your inner thighs and either drive you crazy or destroy your shorts in less than one ride. Not a problem if you are skinny and have thin legs though. There are other models without the QR's that will probably work a little better. Still, if you have a bike with no rack mounts this solves the problem admirably. ... show more

  • Nice bike rack for the money
Nice lightweight bike rack for the money. Fully adjustable, strong and assembly was a snap. Assembly and installation took about 30 minutes and included two hex keys and rubber gasket sets to do so. My fender came bent due to packing but, gentle heating brought it back into shape.

  • inexpensive solution for light use
It gets the job done at a reasonable price. I put it together in about 30 minutes, easy to install with tools included, versatile will probably fit most bikes. The problems I found were: 1. the plastic fender is very very thin I expect it to break off at some point in the near future. Doubling the thickness would be a great improvement here. 2. the mount point for the fender was welded on crooked, so the fender is slightly crooked. Not enough to send it back but still off by a smidge. 3. the mount point for the fender is drilled and tapped for a screw, well it was stripped slightly. I managed to get the screw snug but like I said earlier I expect the fender to break at some point so I'm not going to worry about it. I did like the light weight design. Most of the hardware is sufficient to hold over rough terrain. Fully adjustable mounts makes it versatile for many bikes. Came with 2 different types of bungy tie downs giving me options for holding cargo on the rack. Overall it will work for me but had to give it a 3 stars based on the above listed poor items. ... show more

  • its a pretty decent bike rack
i installed it on my road bike and its held up. only problem is one of screws coming off while riding it. i think they should put extra screws in for customers, just in case. just like how they put extra rubber in the box for the customers.

  • Didn't install (yet). Missing net and fender. (Edited)
Didn't install (yet). Missing net and fender. Edit: Found fender and net, they fell behind stuff when I dumped the box out. It's installed. Side guard holes didn't line up with mount holes, had to bend slightly to make fit. Installed double sided guerilla tape in place of rubber pads for seat post mount. It was easier than getting the pads in right. The tape has some padding, though not as thick. Will update stars on a later date after some use with weight. Edit 2: Used for a couple days. Does its job. Have to adjust it from time to time due to leaning the bike against objects maligning it. I know, I need to replace the kickstand that fell off miles before I noticed. ... show more
