We got this for a science fair experiment for my 5th grader. We used it to measure wind speed in a home-made wind tunnel. It's a little inaccurate for very light winds (less than 2mph), as the wind sometimes isn't enough to overcome the friction in the bearings/propeller. But for measuring outdoor wind it seams to be satisfactory. If you want more precision, get a fancier item. But this one works, and the value was good. ... show more

I use this on clay target shooting ranges to determine wind speed and direction. That doesn't help me shoot any better - flying targets do whatever they're going to do in the wind - but it is something I track in my journal.

Pros: Fairly simple to program / set up and to use. I purchased to measure airflow in different AC vents in the house. Seemed to work well. No other tool to measure so I am unable to verify speed at this time but was good to compare between vents. Con: instructions show the backlight will stay in for 12 seconds. First, it needs to be longer to allow time to watch, monitor, and read the display. Second, I timed mine and it only stays on for just over 9 seconds. Way too short of a time span. I realize they are trying to save battery usage, but they need to make this time longer (30 seconds) or make it an adjustable setting. Over all happy with the purchase but would probably look harder at other options if I had to purchase again ... show more

This anemometer works as it should. The instructions are pretty straight forward. Two batteries were included in the package, as well as a mini screwdriver. My only contention was that the two halves of the unit weren't able to completely snap closed on one side. Rather than sending it back I opted to simply Crazy Glue it shut. I have no idea if the wind speed is measuring accurately, but will accept that it's at least close. The temperature just seems to pick a number (that isn't even close) and goes with it. Since I need both measurements, I'm a little disappointed in that, but I have a backup option so will keep the anemometer for the wind speed guestimate. I wish there were instructions on how to calibrate the thing ... show more
