Description

Monitoring conditions indoor and outdoor has never been more accessible with the AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Weather Station. The professional weather station tracks a comprehensive list of weather data, including lightning strikes within 25 miles, temperature (degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius), humidity (percent RH), Wind Speed (mph, kmh or knots), wind direction (with a 16-point wind rose), barometric pressure, heat index, wind chill, dew point, daily and all-time high and low records, as well as the time and date (month/day). The weather ticker on display streams real-time information and alerts for weather conditions. The home weather station's color display features auto-dimming brightness, has a convenient tabletop stand, and can be mounted to any wall. It records historical data, including current, weekly, monthly, and yearly lightning strike counts (miles or kilometers), average wind Speed (at 1, 2, 5, 10, and 15-minute intervals) as well as historical rainfall records (inches or millimeters) for the previous 48 hours, seven days, month, and year. A Weather Center to Monitor Accurate Weather Conditions, Anywhere: This personal weather station allows you to monitor weather conditions in the home, garden, RV park, or any precise location. Enjoy the benefits of an anemometer, rain gauge, wind vane, hygrometer, and thermometer all in one wireless device. Many customers enjoy utilizing this home weather station as a wireless forecast station due to its reliable forecasting technology. Using the built-in weather barometer, the weather station takes 4,000 readings at 12-minute increments to calculate a running average and compute the barometric pressure for your exact location. The pressure accuracy of AcuRite self-calibrating forecasters increases with each new reading over a period of time (Learning Mode). After 14 days, the self-calibrated pressure is reasonably accurate (although the algorithm continues to run; 4,000 readings = 33.33 days) and the weather forecaster is ready for superior weather prediction. The AcuRite 5-in-1 professional weather station with color display and a lightning detector is compatible with up to 2 additional indoor/outdoor sensors (models: 06002, 06044; sold separately) to monitor different locations..

  • Great product
Style: Lightning Detection
This was a great product. However that being said it was a little complicated to set up all the extras that is why I gave it four stars and not five. Besides that everything was five stars

  • Peace of Mind
Style: Lightning Detection
My last weather station just like this lasted three years. The salt environment and sun here on the Texas Gulf Coast is pretty harsh. My wife likes all the readings and it helps her plan her day.

  • Just an FYI
Style: Lightning Detection
I like this product. But, it was not "Used - Like New." The Display would not receive the input from the remote sensors because the antenna was shorted out. I fixed it by removing solder balls off of the PCB. Also, the A-B-C selector switch was dirty, and I fixed it by spraying some WD-40 on it. NOW it works like new. So, I get that buying an item that was returned by another customer is sort of a crap shoot, and that's why I got like half off the retail price. I'm just sayin' it wasn't 'Like New'... ... show more

  • easy set up
Style: Lightning Detection
Works as expected so far. I've had 3 different Accurite weather stations over the past 7 years. All of which lasted a few years under all kinds of weather. One lasted 5 years at my house in NH. Use lithium batteries for the colder climates. For my other residence, the smaller weather station lasted 6 years. I'm hoping this one does the same. I'd recommend their products. ... show more

  • Good on-line tech support
Style: Lightning Detection
I had a little trouble up front with the machine correctly reading the different elements. I found some very helpful information at their web site and had the unit up and running in no time. We like all the features and the displays.

  • Weather station for severe Monsoon Season
Style: Lightning Detection
I live in an area that has its own micro weather because of its openness of a desert and the local weather stations are far away from me so having this I can know how much rain has fallen and because of the wind at times are quite strong I want to find out how much exactly and because I do have Monsoon's and the thunderstorms have been quite severe in the past two years with a lot of lightning strikes all around me this is why I bought this Weather station and so far it has done exactly what I wanted. It was easy to read the instructions and was fairly easy to mount on the roof of my house I did have to put up guy wires up to hold it up right and level because of the winds that comes through sometimes severe. ... show more

  • Just installed, so far, very nice. Had some signal loss issues initially, etc.
Style: Lightning Detection
Just got this for my wife for Christmas. Got it up and working and we really like it. We have the outdoor unit on a treated 4x4, about 8 feet high. The package includes a mounting bracket for wood, or you can omit the bracket and put the sending unit on top of a 3/4 inch pipe. The outdoor unit has a leveling bubble on the top of it, which is a nice feature for making sure everything is set up really level. Set up was pretty easy, although it did take a few minutes for the indoor unit to find the outdoor unit. The trouble shooting section had some instructions on taking out the batteries and disconnecting the power to the indoor unit, and then restarting. Then the indoor unit found the outdoor unit fine. This unit includes a separate lightning detector. You just set it outside somewhere in a semi-protected environment, like a window sill or under a soffit. There's really no handy mounting technique other than just hanging the "handle" on a nail. No other mounting holes; take a look at the picture. It already detected one lightning strike 22 miles away, which is pretty amazing. Some reviewers mention that the indoor panel is too bright at night (it might be other models, but I remember reading that). This model has four backlit panel options: bright, medium, low, and a "bright during the day, dim at night." The latter setting dims it from 9pm to 6am, and works fine. The only minor issue I have is that the nature of the LCD panel makes it very hard to read at any kind of an angle. You have to be looking straight at it to see the numbers clearly. Right now I'm on the couch, and the panel is mounted on the wall maybe 2 to 3 feet higher than me, about 10 feet away. I can sort of read the numbers, but not very well at all. It's not that they are too small, it's just that they are really faint when read at an angle. I'm not taking a star off, because that's the nature of LCD panels. Update: I'm not so in love with this unit anymore. It worked fine for a couple of months. Then it kept losing the signal from the main unit outside. The good news: Acurite's tech support is excellent. The man helping me took a lot of time to go through our issues. (You will probably be 20th in the on-hold waiting list, but there's a call back option, which is nice.) The tech told me to get rid of the AA Lithium batteries, as they can cause a voltage spike which causes the unit to stop sending data. Now, the instructions clearly say to use either alkaline or Lithium, but Lithium as indicated as preferred in some areas because they work at lower temperatures. Today I went out and bought brand new alkaline batteries for the outside unit. Reconfigured the indoor panel (again!) and was happy to get a strong wireless signal and weather data. An hour later, we've lost the signal again. This unit is well within the range recommended, so it's not that. (It's less than 90 yards away, with no obstructions other than the house wall). I don't know why it keeps losing the signal, but it's a pain. One other thing. When I went out to look at the outside unit while on the phone to the tech, I noticed a clicking sound. Turns out the internal fan is defective. Accurite is sending a replacement part, but I still have to take the unit off the pole, take it apart, and replace the internal fan. Not so good for a two-month old unit. Oh, and I had ordered an additional external temp sensor. The instructions are WRONG about how to set it up to read correctly on the panel. There's a way to get it to cycle from reading multiple external sensors, but it's not as written. (The tech mentioned that he had noticed that too on his own personal unit.) Update to the Update: Ok, so I relocated the base unit; moved it about 10 feet closer, in our entry way. Since then, we've had no problems with loss of signal, so I'm adding a star back. ... show more
